25 and 27 September 2009 - We left Cần Thơ and went south to Cà Mau, which is the southernmost province of Vietnam. On the way we stopped in Sóc Trăng and Bạc Liêu provinces for visiting some sites. This is a famous noodle soup in Sóc Trăng. The soup is sweet as it's cooked from fresh fish. See next photo.

The soup is cooked from fresh fish. We can eat this noodle soup with shrimp, fish and pork. A bowl of noodle soup like this costs VND 15,000 (90 US cents).

This pagoda was built by Vietnamese people in Sóc Trăng. There are about 100 statues made of clay at this pagoda, that's why it's also known as 'the Clay pagoda".

A statue is empty, so that we can see the clay which is the material for making it.

The candle in this photo has been burnt continuously during the past 70 years. When it's burnt out, a new candle will be replaced.

This is the 3rd temple we visited and it was also built by Khmer people in Sóc Trăng province.

I am standing in front of a palm tree and monastery of the temple. A white flower (hoa đại) in my hand is the symbol of Lao Airlines.

Our bus is going along National Highway No. 1 from Sóc Trăng to Bạc Liêu. I am very excited as we are heading further south.

There are many Chinese people living in Sóc Trăng. This is a shop that we visited as people on the tour wanted to buy "Pía" cakes. Inside the cake there are durian and egg.

Inside the cakes there are durian and egg. The red marks on the cakes' surface are the name of the shop in Chinese.
