We had a shit bus for the trip to Dalat, it was a one off the nice bus from Saigon!! We were on this Bus with an English Couple Lucy and Dave, who we have travelled most of the way through Vietnam with. Travelling from Mui Ne to Dalat was quite an experience. We went from desert to the Mountains in a little under 3 hours, very surreal. Through the mountains we were on a dodgey track that was so tiny and looked like we would go over the edge, and it was raining!!! But it looked amazing up there and it was so much cooler. We arrived and the bus did the usual, take you to the hotel they want you to stay at thing. In this case we had no idea where we were and just stayed at the one they took us to. It was cheap, clean and very tacky, Pink sheets! All 4 of us then went wandering the streets and got lost. Dalat is very busy with Vietnamese Tourists as it is much cooler here. They all get rugged up in big jumpers and beanies and its still about 15 at night times. So we stumbled
on to a few good places then headed home to bed.
Dave and I opted to get a guide the next day to take us on a tour. In Dalat they are called Easy Riders, guys with old school bikes that take you around Dalat showing you the sights. Our guides were great and Dalat is beautiful. We went to a few Waterfalls and temples. We got to see some locals cutting up a Dog for dinner. The Vietnamese enjoy Dog, well not all of them but they still eat it here. We thought it was a pig that they were cutting down the guts with a knife, but then we seen the head sitting next to it!!!!
So we stayed 3 nights in Dalat. it was nice and cool and beautiful city to see. We had trouble finding good places to eat. the four of us started a challenge, who could get the shittiest meal. There is always one of us that gets a crap meal, usually Lucy.
Our next destination was Nha Trang. We were heading back to the coast and to the hot weather. The bus was a little better this time but had lots of
people on it.
We got to Nha Trang and Lucy and I found the best accommodation yet. The cheapest and the best!! Which sucks because now we compare everything to that hotel and it was probably a one off.
On our first day there we went exploring for a while after an arvo nap. It was close to dinner time and we were hungry but it was mission to find somewhere to eat. Where we were staying had all local shit restaurants. We found a nice little turkish place that was really expensive, so we just ordered the cheapest thing, hommus, and some beers. We decided to stop looking for somewhere to eat and just drink instead. As we left the restaurant and walked down the road we found a million other restaurants to eat, so pissed off, but at least we knew where to go now. Anyways we headed home to drink there as our lovely hotel had a balcony on each room!!!.
The second day we hired motorbikes and cruised up the coast. a Typhoon was up the coast towards China whic created a little bit of surf for Dave. So he went Surfing and we sat on
the beach. He was the only one surfing and all locals kept staring at him. As he came out the water all the little kids came running up to him and where touching his board.
The third day we all did an Island tour. Lucy and I had motion sickness tablets and were off our heads, couldnt keep our eyes open. We werent impressed to begin with about this tour. Our first island was a 'protected area' so we had to pay to go swimming and snorkelling, and it was shit to look at anyways. By lunch time things started to look up though. it was a massive spread of food and then, the band came out. the tour guides brought out the shittiest drum set we have ever seen and they started singing shitty songs, it was a good laugh though. Then it was time for the Floating Bar. Everyone gets floaties and they keep giving you lots of wine. They were litterally pouring down our throats, well dave and lucy's anyways!!. So the lads were a little pissed by the time we got back to the hotel so we all got stuck into our bottle of Vodka. We
found a bottle of Vodka in the supermarket for only $4. That night we all got very drunk and stirred up a bit of shit around town. English Dave almost got into a fight for jumping on the back of a guys motorbike and our Dave stole a Cyclo. Very funny night though.
The next day was our 'Do nothing day'. Just hired motorbikes and sat on the beach while dave surfed.
the next night we had a 12 hour bus trip ahead of us. It would be the worst bus trip so far...................
