I have been in krabi for the last few days. There's not much going on here and nightlife isn't all that. One night some people in my dorm and few others decided to make the most of a lack of nightlife and the Canadians taught us how to play beer pong. It was pretty good and as we were having the most fun the few other people that were there joined us and it turned out to be a well good night.
The first day I got to krabi I was really sunburnt from the day before. I was on the ferry for four hours sitting on top of the deck. I did keep putting sun creme on put I didn't realise how strong the sun was as it was quite windy. I ended up staying in all day to stay out of the sun! My friends went to railay beach and came back and said they had the best day do I decided to go alone the next day. I met 2 Irish girls on the taxi boat and they were really nice, I went to dinner with them and their friend in the evening. Railay beach was sooo gorgeous!
In the pictures it doesn't even show just how nice it was, they never do it justice but it was stunning. The huge rocks coming out of the sea and covering the whole place looked amazing! Loads of people go rock climbing here because those rocks are apparently the best in Thailand.
I wanted to go to the viewpoint and to the lagoon, I thought it would take an hour tops. I was wrong it took about 3 hours and it was the most terrifying hours of my life! To get to just the viewpoint it was a vertical climb up a hill covered in dangerous rocks, with only a rope to hold on to. I thought that was scary until people who passed us that went to the lagoon said that this was easy compared to the route to the lagoon!! They weren't joking I can tell u that! Anyway got to the viewpoint and it was beautiful! Stayed there for about 10 minutes to recuperate and met an American woman. She was really nice and we decided to go together to the lagoon to look out for each other. I thought we had to keep climbing up
but turned out it was down. We walked until we got to the first down bit and it was like standing on a cliff edge with jagged rocks on the bottom and edges! If it weren't for watching others do it first including girls lol there would have been no way in hell I would have done it! There were four points where we had to climb down a cliff edge to get down and by the second one I had to sit down cos I was shaking so much I turned to jelly! Then did two more and they just got worse and worse! Then we reached the lagoon it all of sudden it was all worth it! It was the most beautiful thing ever! It was a pool of water in the middle of a cliff that surrounded it all the way around. It was sooo pretty. I had a little swim and then cut my foot on something sharp in the pool. I can't believe after the climb I did my only injury was standing on something in a safe place! After I was thinking fuck! Hell the hell am I going to get back up as
my upper body strength is so bad! In fact I was actually quite impressed with how well I did and I had to have another sit down cos I turned to jelly again cos it was so damn scary! By the time we got back to viewpoint and went down that bit that I was originally scared of, it was a piece of cake! The American girl and me were saying that back at home a place like that would only exist if I there were harnesses and guide people and disclaimers and all that and we would have to pay a bomb to go visit it. Health and safety is so lax in Thailand but I didn't see a single injury from that which was so surprising but just shows how over the top England is.
I keep trying to buy a factor 50 sun creme cos my skin is being overly gay and sensitive to the sun but all cremes over 30 have whitening chemicals in them. The thai people take the piss out if us when we sunbath at the beach and they don't understand why we want to be brown. I'm thier culture white skin
is more beautiful so they all chemically whiten their skin! When I go a shop all I see is whitening chemicals in moisturisers and sun cremes and all sorts. Crazy people - brown is the way to go!
I'm in Bangkok now. I got a 12 hour bus over night Ian's it was the worst nights sleep of my life! I'm leaving tomorrow night for another 12 hour bus journey to Chiang Mai. Dreading that Journey! I'm going to go explore Bangkok.
Peace out for how xx
