Lady Boy Pageant
Can anyone spot Miss New Jersey? Greetings from Thailand! I am finally settled and able to attempt to create a blog entry (obviously new to the world of blogging so please excuse the amateur nature of my blog). Thailand is absolutely amazing its such a surreal experience! The night we arrived, Brenda and myself were lucky enough to have been able to touch base with another ex-pat (friend of a friend of Brenda's named Richard ) who showed us all Bangkok had to offer. Oddly enough, we met our first night in an irish pub called "The Dubliner." This was soon followed by a mardi gras themed bar, and then a really cool (pardon the pun) ice bar called "Titanium" where we made friends from Tokyo and Colorado (what a mix). The next day we decided to do some cultural activities and took the water taxi to the Grand Palace. As it wasn't open til 2pm and we arrived at about 12:30 we took a tuk tuk taxi all around the place....really this was a facinating mode of transport...i've never come soo close to being run over by a truck in all my life! Myself and Brenda were squeeling soo much, our thai driver def got his

Is it cold in here or is it just me? kicks. Our driver was really friendly and took us to see several various Buddah's, a factory where I had a cashmere suit made, and then some gardens all for 10 baht each (like 5 cents) and then back to the Grand Palace. At this stage sun burn was starting to kick in, when the heat and humidity really started to redden our pale complexions. We wandered around in awe of the magnificant mosaics and tiling all over every inch of every corner. We saw the emerald buddah, and worshiped in a temple...I even got a picture with a monk (who wouldn't let me stand anywhere near him! ..how rude!) After this we headed back to our hotel to shower and get ready for the nite. Once again we hit the town, after all its Bangkok baby! We went to see ping pong shows and "dart" shows which gave a whole new meaning to life! Managed to find some really late nite venues such as long guns, and finally landed in bed around 4am (bearing in mind we had to get up for our flight to the island of Ko Samui at 7:30/8am)....well it was an interesting nite full of bowl

The Ice Queens pouring Finladia hugging...poor Brenda got sick in the taxi...good thing i had a Dublin Airport duty free shopping bag handy!
At any rate, we made it in one piece to the island of Ko Samui which is absolutely gorgeous. We found a nice cheap bungalow just off the beach and near the main strip which is a really ideal location. We've decided to lay off the drinkies until St. Paddy's day, so for now its all sunbathing and adventure. We finally ventured out tonight (16th March)and tried some pad thai cuisine which was quite yummy, and tummy seems to be doing okay so far...actually tomorrow we are also going to a thai cooking lesson to learn how to use chilis and all sorts of other hot hot hot ingredients. The people here are amazingly friendly and polite, I could really get used to this whole bowing thing..ha..ha.Tomorrow we are going elephant treking, ox-cart riding, atv bike riding, and to see a monkey show...not to mention its St. Paddy's Day so myself and Brenda will be painting the town green (and fortunately for us there is a pub called Tropical Murphy's just down the road) so will fill you in once I can
Buddah
Gee..and I thought I was tired afford to get online for this long again..ha.
Ok, well I better log off now, but will keep you all posted
