ok so, we arrived in bangkok on the 2nd of december, after a short cab ride we found our selves on the infamous khao san road, a popular travellers destination. the city although full of culture , is humid and doesnt smell to great! but there was more than enough bars to keep us occupied for the first few days of our travelling experience!
so after we checked in we went pretty much straight out to party, found our selves in a busy bar on the koh san road endulging in our first bucket ( a harsh blend of thai whiskey coke and red bull concentrate) which certainly did the job! after moving to another bar or two we ( well i)managed to get split from the group but found my way back to the hotel, just! the next day we felt we should see some culture so took a tuk tuk around the city stopping at various points of interest, including the standing budda and a temple or two! after a bit of bartering a the local markets we headed back for a well needed shower and then repeated the process of the night before only this time we felt
we should add in a ping pong show! an experience to say th least!
Then it was off to koh phang-yan so after a grueling 12 hour train journey we arrived on the island, beautiful though it was, when we arrived it was a tropical stom which unfortunatly continued for the rest of the time on the island, but it didnt put us off the full moon party later on that night.
we arrived at the full moon party not knowing what to expect but as soon as we got on to the beach and saw 30,000 people dancing a drinking buckets we knew the deal! after a few buckets of our own it just got crazy we did a lot of dancing and a lot of high fiving randoms, met some cool people and had an all round awesome time we all got back to our hotel differently but when back swapped storys and agreed it was an insanly good night! next day we rented out mopeds to see the island on we saw loads of waterfalls and a nature reserve, and then took the 'main road' to the other side of the island it started monsooning again and
we were going up and down ridiculusly steep hills on mud traks, which was interesting to say the least, most of us had a fall but none as funny as davey's who fell off then got back on proclaing he was fine then accelerated straight back in to a hedge'priceless'. once back showered and fed a few of us went back to the moon party beach , wasnt as crazy a night to start but it soon turned in to one, so then it was off to samui!
not a massive amount to tell about samui but the weather was better so we basically spent most of the time on the beach cathing some rays which was a nice chilled out change, we did go out one occasion which was cool as but nothing worth going in to detail about! so though it was a beautifull place it still wasnt quite meeting our standards of iddilicy! so we headed across country to and island called phi-phi don in the adaman sea!
after a 10 hour boat-coach-boat trip we arrived, and it was amazing no roads on the island far less built up but still a nice balance between
a beautifull island life and a small party scene it was like we had hit the jackpot! our hotel was nasty to say the least but it was somwhere to get out heads down! so we headed down to the bar on a beach after a shower and hit the now favorite buckets had a great night dancing after hearing andy c playing in a bar, so i schooled the thai's in to some bristol drum and bass! so i think it was the next day after catching some rays that we decided to go skuba diving! what an amazing day after getting geared up we had two 45 minute sessions swimming round the corals in phi-phi lay, one of the best experiences ive ever done! swimming next to sea turtles and countless schools of tropical fish, what an amazing day! after we got back we hit the town agian met a few cool people including somone from king stanley, only a few miles from wotton, how random! and a cute canadian whos name escapes me! the next day we just spent chilling, but the next day we decided to go on a sunset tour and then spend the night
under the stars on maya bay ( the setting for the film the 'beach') it was amazibng we started off by going to a monkey bay which was just littered with monkeys after taking loads of photos and milsey bein chased by them we got in to a bit of a negotiation of how to get our kayak back from the swarm of monkeys that had taken it over after a while we got it back! and went on to a lagoon kayaked around the lagoon and snorkelled for a bit which was just incredible! then we went on to maya bay after a short swim off the boat a crawl through a little cave and a very short trek through the jungle we arrived at the much talked about maya bay, and it lived up to it reputation, it was an amazing white sanded beach enclosed by limestone cliffs and a turquoise lagoon, without doubt the most beautiful place i had ever bin too after a qucik game of beach footie, where davey managed to get his toe broken by a sweed! we headed back to the boat which had come round the bay to meet us we ate
some rice and watched the sunset, then the five of us and our guide ( boi) kayaked back to the bewach where a tent and rugs had bin set up for us we drank beers and listened to the beach soundtrack(cliche i know) followed by a fantastic barbeque cooked for us by boy! it was amazing how well we were looked after concidering we had only payed 25 quid for the whole experience. then we went to see some chicken crabs which were pretty cool and the were shit loads of them ! once back on the beach boi got his guitar out and sang us some tunes whilst we chilled! me and mills went for a swinm to check out the phospheressence! which were amazing clear starlit sky above and thesse little sea stars below amazing!! we slept under the stars, truely the most picturesque placein the world! the next day we went round the cove snorkeling saw some more sea turtles and finally some sharks i was made! wen we finally got picked up we headed back to mainland and got showered once we had found another and yet worse guest house!
hit the town again and met
a really cool south african/aussie called nicola!we all got trashed that night and then did the same the night after both mills and dean falling asleep on seperate occasions on the beach which was funny as! so the next day we were leaving the island for melboure although i was looking forward to melboure it was hard to leave such a picturesque place behind but after another boat trip and a insanely uncomfortable 14 hour coach journey we arrived back in bangkok and waited to catch our plane to aus, hard to beleive weve done so much yet only bin away for 3 weeks of a 6 moth trip. spot on !!
