Once part of the Death Railway during the World War II.
Hello to you all.

Well my last week in Thailand went by quite quickly. I spent it in the Western part of the Country near the Myamar border along the River Kwae. I stayed in a guest house that was suspended over the river, which allowed for beautiful views and a cultural experience. For a couple days I would sit on traditional Thai pyramid cushions, drinking fresh fruit smoothies and lassies, while loud longtail boats would race bye with loads of tourists. All the activities are partook in were relaxing and seemed to have a beautiful view of the mountains, rivers, waterfalls or any other part of Natures wonders. I rented a motorcycle and went for a 250km ride one day taking in Hell Fire Pass, Soi Yok Noi Waterfalls and a couple of caves, while enjoying the country landscape. The pass is a memorial for all the fallen POW's from WWII who were working on the Thai/Byrma/Myamar death railway. I was quite moved by a number of the stories and pictures included at the pass. It is an interesting area and lots of historical events took place in this region of the world and if you are a history

The river has gained international fame due the construction of the Death Railway and the famous "Bridge on the River Kwai
buff, like trains, caving, jumping into crystal blue and green pools at waterfalls, or enjoy relaxing, this is an area for you. I highly recommend it.

Before I left, I learned a little bit of Thai from one of the local girls at the guest house, which was challenging but rewarding. The area is also known for the Movie- "The Bridge Over the River Kwae", for those of you that are movie buffs. Thailand treated me well!

I am now in New Zealand and hope to update you soon from one of the local cafes on top of one of the Glaciers in the South Island.

Take care.
Love Graham

The waterfall has seven levels dropping down over 1,500m and is regarded as one the more beautiful in Thailand. I also saw a Kimono Dragon about 5.5ft long here.
