À la fin de ma longue journée de cours, j’ai pris un avion en direction Phuket. Phuket est une île assez grande avec plusieurs villes et de nombreuses plages paradisiaques. J’ai surtout visité la ville principale qui porte le même nom que l’île ou inversement, nous parlons bien de la ville Phuket. Je l’ai visitée le temps d’une matinée avant d’embarquer dans un ferry qui m’a emmenée à Koh Phi Phi. J’y suis resté 3 jours avant d’aller m’aventurer 2 jours à Koh Lanta!

At the end of my day long day of class, I took a plane to Phuket. Phuket is a quite big island, with several cities and a lot of beautiful beaches. I mainly visited the main city of the island, which has the same name of the island or the other way round, we are talking about the city of Phuket. I visited it in the morning before embarking on a ferry to Koh Phi Phi. I stayed there 3 days, before adventuring myself 2 days on Koh Lanta island!

De très beaux temples bouddhistes se trouvent à Phuket, comme vous pouvez voir sur les photos. Puis en se promenant dans la ville on tombe sur une ou deux rues qui sont très belles et bien colorées. Après j’ai trouvé un bouiboui qui vendait des tickets pas cher pour aller à Koh Phi Phi en ferry. Pour me rendre au port il a fallu que je prenne un taxi, mais attention pas n’importe quel taxi, c’était sur un scooter. Je n’étais pas vraiment rassurée pour plusieurs raisons: je n’étais jamais montée sur un scooter avant et j’ai vu un accident aux Champs Élysées, à Paris, j’avais pas de casque, j’était un peu chargée (une gros sac à dos bien lourd et un sac à main bien rempli, de plus le chauffeur était assez volumineux. C’était le moyen le plus pratique, rapide et avec un prix ultra raisonnable et négociable en plus.

Some very nice Buddhist temples are located in Phuket, like the ones you may see on the pictures. Then when you walk around the city you arrive at some point in these two very nice colourful little streets. Then I found this little shop selling cheap ferry tickets to Koh Phi Phi island. So to get to the port, I had to take a taxi, but not any ordinary taxi, it was on a scooter. I wasn’t really reassured for several reasons. I had never been on a scooter before, and I saw an accident on the Champs Elisés, in Paris. I wasn’t given a helmet. I was a bit overloaded ( a big heavy backpack and a handbag which was full) and the driver was a bit fat too, so I didn’t have that much space in the end. However, it was the cheapest and easiest way to get to the harbour.

Sur le ferry tout le monde était en maillot de bain, donc moi aussi, idéal pour un bain de soleil. Les gens était sympas, comme je n’avais pas pu prendre ma crème solaire à cause des restrictions de l’avion, un touriste m’a donné un peu de sa crème pour que je me protège un minimum. Ensuite, j’ai rencontré d’autres Français: Xavier et Fanny.

On the ferry everyone was in their swimming costumes, so was I, sunbathing. The people were really friendly, as I couldn’t take my sunscreen because of the plane regulations, a nice passenger on the boat gave me a bit of his, to protect myself a minimum.Then I met other french travellers: Xavier and Fanny.

Je suis arrivée sur l’île de Koh Phi Phi en début d’après-midi et je me suis rendu directement à l’auberge de jeunesse: The Stone Bar Hostel. Cette auberge a un emplacement idyllique: sur une plage magnifique au bord de la mer turquoise et transparente avec une vue absolument paradisiaque. Ils font aussi restaurant, donc j’en ai profité pour manger une délicieuse crêpe Thaïlandaise (salade grecques à l’intérieur). Puis je me suis rendue à une autre plage à l’autre bout de l’île (c’est une île piétonne). C’était une petite aventure pour y aller où on a un peu l’impression de marcher sur un chemin dans la jungle. Je m’y suis baignée en arrivant, puis je me suis posé sur un transat (gratuitement) le temps de sécher avant de m’aventurer pour le chemin du retour. J’ai eu la chance inouïe de pouvoir assister au plus beau coucher de soleil du monde, celui-ci restera à jamais gravé dans ma mémoire! Un ciel de toutes les couleurs se reflétant dans la mer avec des palmiers et des beaux bateaux longue queue tout en bois et joliment peints, c’était un véritable tableau paradisiaque!

I arrived on the Island of Koh Phi Phi in the beginning of the afternoon, and went directly to the hostel: The Stone Bar Hostel. This hostel has an idyllic location: on a wonderful beach with turquoise blue, see-through sea, accompanied by a heavenly view! This hostel is also a restaurant so I had lunch there when I arrived. I took a delicious fresh Thai pancake filled with some Greek salad. Then I walked to another beach on the other side of the island, which is pedestrian. It was a little adventurous walk, because we kind of have the feeling to walk across a jungle. When I finally reached the long beach I directly ran into the sea, before relaxing on a deckchair (for free) the time to dry a bit, before adventuring myself on the way back. I had this marvellous chance to see the most beautiful sunset in the world, this one will stay forever in my memories! A very colourful sky, reflecting itself in the sea, with palm trees and long tail wooden boats with very nicely painted decorations. This sunset was a real scene of heaven!

Ma deuxième journée en Thaïlande, a commencé par un petit déjeuner sur une autre plage magnifique devant une autre magnifique vue et devant les bateaux longue queue. Puis j’ai embarqué avec d’autres touristes sur un de ces bateaux pour la journée. Nous avons tout d’abord débarqué sur une île avec plein de singes trop drôles mais aussi voleurs: c’est ça qui les rendait rigolos. Par exemple un singe à sauté sur un monsieur pour lui voler sa bouteille d’eau, puis a sauté dans un arbre et a réussi à ouvrir la bouteille. Le truc qui a fait mourir de rire tout le monde, c’est qu’après avoir ouvert la bouteille d’eau, cet idiot de singe, a transporté la bouteille ouverte à l’envers, jusqu’en haut de l’arbre puis a essayé de boire mais ne comprenait pas pourquoi la bouteille était vide. Evidemment personne ne s’énerve après ces singes, parce qu’ils nous surprennent et nous font trop rire. En plus certains sont mignons. On a vu des mamans singes avec leur bébé accroché à elles.

My second day in Thailand, started with a breakfast on a different magnificent beach in front of another magnificent view and in front of long tail boats. After I embarked, with other tourists, on one of these boats for the day. Our first stop was on this beach filled with fun, cute cheeky monkeys. For example, a monkey jumped onto a guy, to steal his bottle of water, and then jumped into a tree and managed to open the bottle. The most hilarious fact, was that once the bottle was opened, this stupid monkey took it upside down and climbed even higher in the tree, but when he arrived up there, he couldn’t understand why the bottle was empty. Obviously, no one gets angry after these monkeys, because they surprise us and make us laugh a lot. In addition, some are cute too. We saw some mummy monkeys with their baby attached to them.

Ensuite, nous nous sommes arrêtés à plein d’autres magnifiques plages toutes différentes et impressionnantes. Il y avait cette île avec du sable tout blanc et quelques arbres, un peu comme dans l’imaginaire des enfants: une île ronde avec du sable et des arbres au centre. D’ailleurs sur cette île j’ai vu un long serpent très fin noir et vert sur une table de pique-nique.

Then we stopped in many other beautiful beaches, they were all different and amazing! There was this island with white sand and a few trees, a bit like in the imaginary of the children; a circular island with sand and trees in the middle. In fact, on this island I saw a long thin black and green snake, on a picnic table.

Puis l’autre endroit qui m’a beaucoup marqué est Maya Bay. C’est une île merveilleuse. Pour accéder à la baie nous avons dû sauter du bateau, nager puis grimper tout en haut d’un filet, comme les pirates. Puis une fois en haut nous avions 100 mètres à marcher avant de découvrir ce paradis. Il y a très peu de fond et la mer à cet endroit est aussi chaude voire plus chaude que le bain.

The other place that left a mark in my memory, was Maya Bay. It is an extraordinary island. To reach the bay, we had to jump off the boat, swim and then climb up a net like pirates. Then we had to walk 100 meters, before we could discover this paradise. It isn’t deep at all, so the water is as warm as the bath.

Comme j’étais seule et que je ne m’étais pas fait d’amis sur le bateau car il n’y avait que des couples qui s’embrassaient, j’ai vu qu’il il y avait une autre personne seule comme moi. On est tous les deux allés l’un vers l’autre et nous avons visité un peu l’endroit ensemble. Il est anglais et a passé 2 ans en Australie en Working Holiday Visa, un projet qui me tente bien. Avant de retourner sur nos bateaux respectifs, on s’était dit qu’on essaierait de se retrouver le soir au bar de mon auberge sans vraiment se donner d’heure, et sans s’échanger nos numéros car nous n’étions qu’en maillot de bain. C’est aussi la raison pour laquelle je n’ai pas de photo de cet endroit merveilleux. Maintenant je pense vous avoir donné un avant-goût de cette merveille, donc allez la voir sans hésiter, vous allez adorer!

As I was alone, and that I wasn’t making any friends on the boat, since there were only couples kissing each other, I noticed another person who was also alone like me. So we both went to each other and started talking and sharing our travel experiences, while we were exploring the area. He is English and spent 2 years in Australia doing a Working Holiday Visa, a project that I would like to experience. Before we went back on our different boats, we decided to meet later at the bar of my hostel, without giving ourselves any specific time, and without exchanging our mobile numbers since we were just in our shorts/bikini. This is also the reason why I don’t have any photos of this wonder. Now I think I have given you a first taste of this wonder, so travel there without hesitating, you will adore it!

Pendant qu’on naviguait on s’arrêtait pour faire du snorkeling, c’était merveilleux! J’ai vu des poissons de toutes les couleurs, des poissons Arc-en-ciel, des poissons "Dory" et encore plein d’autres, c’était vraiment très très beau!

While we were navigating, we stopped regularly to do some snorkeling, it was marvellous! I saw very colourful fishes, some rainbow fishes, some fishes like Dory and many others, it was really wonderful!

Owain et moi avons réussi à nous retrouver en début de soirée. Puis nous sommes allés dîner avec les Français que j’avais rencontré la veille sur le ferry. Xavier a un ami qui a ouvert un restaurant: Jungle Bar sur cette île récemment. Nous avons passé une super soirée très conviviale, tous à 6 autour de la table: le propriétaire du restaurant, sa copine, Xavier, et Fanny, Owain et moi. Nous avons mangé du poisson très très bien cuisiné. Avant de passer à table nous avons pris l’apéro et Nesta nous a préparé, avec amour, des cocktails vraiment très bons. Je vous encourage à y faire un tour si vous aller à Koh Phi Phi.

Owain and I managed to find each other at the beginning of the evening. Then we had dinner with the french friends I’d made the day before on the ferry. Xavier has a friend who, recently opened a restaurant: Jungle Bar, on this island. We have had a fantastic warm evening. We were 6 around the table enjoying the diner, the owner of the restaurant, and his girlfriend, Xavier and Fanny, Owain and I. We had some very well cooked fish. But before we all settled ourselves around the table, we had some very tasty cocktails prepared with love by Nesta. I strikingly advise you to go there if you visit Koh Phi Phi.

Le lendemain matin, j’ai petit-déjeûné (une crêpe au Nutella, incroyable ils en avaient, haha) à mon auberge sur la plage en contemplant la magnifique vue. Ensuite je suis aller voir le Point de Vue qui se trouve en haut d’une colline. C’est encore un endroit magique car on a une vue 360° sur l’île. Admirez les photos! Il est conseillé d’y aller pour le coucher du soleil, si j’étais resté là une nuit de plus c’est ce que j’aurais fait. Après cette petite balade je suis revenue à l’auberge pour déjeûner et me baigner une dernière fois sur l’île.

The next morning, I enjoyed taking my breakfast (a pancake with Nutella, it was a miracle they had some, haha) at my hostel, on the beach, in front of the amazing view. After I walked to the top of a hill to the reach the Point of View. It is another magical place, because we have a 360° view on the island. Admire the photos! It is advised to go there for the sunset, I would have done that if I had stayed one more night. After this short hike, I came back to the hostel, to have lunch and to take a last swim on the island.

Après je suis remontée sur un ferry pour m’aventurer à Koh Lanta! Quand je suis arrivée à l’auberge, j’étais très bien accueillie par un couple d’Allemands qui étaient dans la même chambre que moi. Ils m’ont emmené avec eux pour aller boire un verre sur la plage puis nous sommes allés au restaurant ensemble, toujours sur la plage.

Then I climb back on a ferry for a new adventure in Koh Lanta! When I arrived at the hostel, I was very well received in my roommates who were a young couple of German travellers. They invited me to come with them to have a drink on the beach and to contemplate the sunset on the sea, and then we went to a restaurant to have diner together, still on the beach.

Le lendemain quand je me suis réveillée, j’ai profité de la plage pour aller jouer dans les vagues. On ne peut pas vraiment nager car il y a pas mal de rouleaux, je pense que pour le surf ça ne doit pas être trop mal. Ensuite je suis allée faire une petite balade dans la forêt à dos d’un éléphant. Je vous rassure, je me suis renseignée avant d’y aller, j’ai vu qu’ils avaient le label écotourisme, ce qui signifie, qu’ils s’engagent à protéger l’espèce. De plus ils nous ont expliqué que nous devions payer non seulement pour l’activité, mais surtout pour réussir à subvenir à tous leurs besoins et soins. Il y a même une boîte à dons sur place.

The next day, when I woke up, I enjoyed being on the beach to play in the waves. We can not really swim, because there are quite a few rollers, but I bet to surf it must be fun. In the afternoon I had a walk in the forest on an elephant's back. I can reassure you, by informing you that I saw they had the ecotourism label, which means that they protect this species, and on their website, and brochures they clearly tell us what they do with the money we give to have an elephant tour. They use this money not only for the tour, but also to feed them and fulfil all the elephants needs. There is also a little box where you can give some the amount of money you wish to offer them, to help them with the elephants’ needs.

Lors de la balade l’éléphant ne voulait pas toujours avancer ou aller dans la direction prévue, et le monsieur qui le dirigeait lui parlait avec son bâton, sans le toucher (son bâton avec l’espèce de hache au bout servait à couper les branches qui nous coupaient la route). Si l’éléphant ne voulait pas avancer, nous attendions simplement qu’il se décide sans le forcer à quoique se soit.

During the tour, sometimes, the man guiding the elephant would simply talk to the elephant without using his kind axe. In fact, he was using this tool to cut off the branches that were in the middle of the way. When the elephant didn’t want to walk, we would just be patient and wait for it to decide it to continue the tour.

Après la balade je me suis baignée sur une autre petite plage devant un hôtel de luxe, c’était relaxant.

After the elephant tour, I went to a different beach, in front of a luxury hotel resort, it was relaxing.

Le soir j’ai assisté à un super-beau coucher de soleil sur la plage devant l’auberge de jeunesse!

In the evening, I admired a wonderful sunset on the beach, in front of the hostel!
