Unlike Lanta, we are now on the East coast.
Thanks for your messages. It is great to know you are looking at our blogs.

We arrived on Koh Ngai 2 days ago by speed boat and had to wade through the shallow water to the shore while some handy Thai men carried our backpacks and accumulated paraphenalia.

We have a lovely wooden 'villa' on the beach with an open air shower/bathroom which even has a small garden in it. We finally seem to have found a resort that doesn't need to play thumping music until the early hours - at last!

The beach is very beautiful, albeit a little lumpy with pieces of coral. You have to be careful not to tread on the hermit crabs. The sea is crystal clear and you can swim to a good reef just off the shore. The water is so warm, it's like a bath and unlike anything we have experienced before.

Today (my birthday) we kayaked to a big rock about 20 minutes kayaking away, where we tied up our boat and had a snorkel. There were so many fish (Sergeant Major fish, I think) that they were right in your face. Quite a sweet novelty until we

both got bitten by them.

In two days time we are moving up the beach (as our current accommodation is full). It is a very busy time of year due to Chinese New Year on 18th Feb.

We really like this island as it is so natural and tranquil.

If I look uncomfortable that's because I was, but Nigel thought it would be a great picture! I have had a great birthday so far and am looking forward to a seafood bbq for dinner.
