Thai take away
Looks delicious.... Due to the constant stream of emails asking us where we are and what we are up to now.
We have decided to restart our blogging.
Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to send messages.
(It was appreciated.) This is the blog we were working on before we published our "Open letter". We reached Patong Beach at the end of the rainy season,
not expecting as much of the wet stuff as we got.
At times it was so bad that we were forced to buy a brolly,
so that we could at least leave the hotel for a wander round.
Luckily we were not far from a shopping centre which was covered over and afforded some shelter.
We found a nice Irish Bar there and were able to watch live premiership football for free.
(Which is more than we can do at home!) Strolling along Bangla Road is what most people tended do in the evenings for entertainment.
Watching the "go go" dancers and the like, in the various bars....
Laughing at the antics of the
A Tuk Tuk
You have to get used to drivers "tuk tuking" wherever you go, they sound like a load of clucking chickens..... drunken western guys as they are being played like fiddles....
We did manage to sit on the beach in between the showers,
only to be harassed by the constant stream of hawkers.
Don't get me wrong they are a friendly bunch with a ready smile and will take no for an answer.
But we tended to sit further up the beach away from the front, for a bit of quiet time.
(Less hassle there and the market stalls are cheaper) To sum up Patong Beach, it's lively....
The ideal place to be if you are on a stag night or just want to let your hair down.
So if it's a all action holiday you are looking for this is the place on Phuket Island to be. NB.
Personally I would not reccomend this place for a families.
There are a few safety issues with the beach activites,
namely the jet skis which are much to close to the shore.
They constantly weave in and out between the swimmers,
which is a bit nerve racking to watch.
Also there Massage Girls
They pronounce it - "Math arrrgh" along with the "tuk tuking" this can get very tiresome....... is a seedy side to this town,
with older european guys hanging around with very young thai girls.
We all know that this goes on all over the world,
but it just seems a little to open here.
There are more family friendly beaches further up the coast.

So it DOES rain abroad!
I was getting worried that you'd developed your own micro-climate, so am more than gratified you get rain like what we do, but much warmer. Lovely to see leaves on trees there: you're missing autumn, you know. Greetings to you from Oxfam! The Christmas rush is starting, so let that sit on your conscience. No, we're fine, no, really we are... (Bridget and I are in again today, we worked so well together yesterday, and people are off sick, can you do Thursday, Avril??)
