Wooo :D

Finished the 3 day Instructor Exam today, it had been raining earlier during the week so we were a bit worried about how the visibility would be in the sea today, luckily we had glorious sunshine and great conditions for our Open water presentations in Mango bay today.

Day 1 of the IE started with a briefing from the PADI Examiners from PADI Asia Pacific and then the General Standards and Procedures exam as well as the 5 part theory exam. Got 94% for the GSP exam and 3 x 100% and 2 x 92% for the theory exam. Also my group were the purple group or the Purple Cobras as we liked to call ourselves 😉

Day 2 began with our confined water presentations at the Sunset Buri resort pool, when we arrived it was a hive of activity with other groups in the pool finishing off their presentations. I had to do a rescue presentation which I was a bit nervous about but I got a 5/5 which was a huge relief :D Then we had to demonstrate 5 skills to instructor standard which we all got 5/5 for, guess all that practicing in

and it's not even 7 pm yet
the pool paid off. We were fortunate enough to have a break for a long lunch before getting ready to present our academic presentations which I got a 5/5 for. I think that it was because I rubbed Danny's belly for good luck before we jumped into the pool earlier that morning. We all came back pleased with our efforts, just one day to go.

Day 3 and the weather didn't look too promising but by the time we had set up our gear and the boat was on it's way to Mango bay, the weather looked like it was improving. It was our group's turn to start the open water presentations (we all passed and I got 4.5/5 and 4/5 for my 2 skills) after the OW presentations we had to demonstrate rescuing a non-breathing unconscious diver in the water which we had all done as rescue divers so it wasn't too tricky. The weather was really good by this stage and once we got back to the jetty everyone met in an irish pub called Dirty Nellys and waited for the last few groups to finish off their debriefs. Once the debriefs were finished we congregated upstairs where the instuctors congratulated us and presented our certificates followed by a big group photo :D Tonight is the big IE party back at the irish pub with live music and a FREE BUFFET :D It's now decided to start lashing down outside right now 😞

It's a great relief now that the IE is over, it was a stressful process but well managed during the 3 days and in the end I had fun. We all passed as instructors and now have to wait 10 days for our paperwork to be processed before we can get our hands on the newcomers at the jetty :D
