Baggage reclaim
Hi all,

Arrived safely in Ko Samui from bangkok. One of the most coolest airports ever. Its mostly outdoors, thatch roofs and all. No security queues here and you dont have to wait for your bags for over an hour, but then again that only seems to happen in Dublin. Our bungalow was in a small resort by the beach. Fairly quiet but its handy to the pier for getting around.

Went to Chaweng the first night....might as well be in Benidorm/Ibiza et al.. complete with 7 elevens and Tescos..etc.. We went to a local thai bar with some guy crooning thai ballads (think Franny on happy pills!!) about a Euro for a bottle of beer or a smirnoff ice..The taxi home took about 45 minutes for a 10 minute run.. the poor guy hadn;t a word of english and didnt know where he was going.. with the help of two thai guys having a beer by the roadside and some international sign language that we got the guy on the right road at least. we eventually drove passed our place whether by luck or good directions....,

We caught a boat to Ang Thong National Marine Park from the pier today. It is made up of 42 islands featuring lime stone massifs, tropical rainforests and deserted beaches. Its about an hour from Ko samui. We stopped off at a secluded island at a little cove for snorkelling. Strange to put your head under the water and see hundreds of fish swimming passed you. Amazing sights.. Hope the photos with the underwater camera come out well enough.. Looked for some Nemo's for Aine and Cara but could't find any yet.. maybe on Ko Tao..
After that we moved to Mae Koh island and to Thale Nai (an emerald saltwater lake) Bit of a hike up and down in the heat but well worth it for the views. From that we moved on to Wua Talap island. The boat crew cooked us a thai lunch of rice, chicken, vegetables and a thai soup before we went kayaking to a desertred beach. Couldnt bring cameras with us on the kayak so unfortunately we have no photos of the beach..

So its off to Ko Tao next...

Talk soon!!!
