Peaceful accommodation set in beautiful gardens
Our journey from the West to the East coast was a real drawn out pain in the ass. Our long tail boat back to Krabi set off at 8 am, it was raining and misty and we had to wade out to the boat in the murky water that came up to our thighs. We then spent the day on several buses before getting the ferry to Samui and then a songthaew arriving at Choeng Mon hours later! Luckily it was well worth it.

We'd chosen an amazing place, both our stay 'O'Soleil' and the beach. Unlike the popular Chaweng down the coast our little village was relatively uncommercialised and laid back, just what we wanted! Our bungalow was in a pretty tranquil garden dotted with ponds, and your nostrils filled with the flower scents on the thirty meter walk to the beach. Not only that, our bungalow had free sun loungers on the beach, and we didn't have to use the mozzy net, bonus! We stayed five nights, we loved it and didn't do much other than sunbathe and enjoy the beach. We got a taxi to Chaweng one evening for dinner, we didn't like it at all, busy and lined with fast food chains and the beach was packed and noisy from the number of jet skis.

We took a day out to visit the beautiful Ang Thong National Marine Park, 42 islands covered in rainforest, white beaches and plenty of beautiful corals. This was our highlight of our time on Samui, it did cost us a bit but it was a great day out and well worth it. We snorkelled in the morning around Koh Wao, not half as impressive as the Perhentian but still plenty to see. We then headed further into the marine park; it was amazing, so tranquil and untouched. We kayaked around an island before having a great lunch (the best lunch we've had as we are usually snacking on rice crackers and fruit shakes). We stopped at another island and climbed to the viewpoint, really high up on nightmare steps, but the view at the top of the emerald lake and the whole archipelago was awesome. Lots of sunbathing in between the activities too, topping up our tans! We really liked Samui, the weather was so much better here on the East coast and we felt totally chilled.<br style="mso-special-character: line-break;" />
