Well as it happens we did get well and truely pasted, soaked, and occasionaly slapped in the face with prickly heat powder.. Happy New Year !!
Bangkok, (well khao sarn Rd) and surrounding area to be honest as the crush of people didnt let you move much) was alot of fun when we were there as i mentiond it was thai new year (songkram) and to celabrate every single person hits the streats with super soakers and buckets of flour paste. the roads grind to a stand still and the cars get there share of paste as well as police, dogs, kids, pretty much anything if fair game as the streats become lined with big ice cream fridges full of ice water and paled out onto the passing public.. its quite a crazy few days and we really enjoyed blasting people in the face with ice water (well i did) but after the fourth day we just wanted to get to a restaraunt and be dry as we were eating..
From Bangkok we jumped on a train and ferried ourselves on to the small island of Koh Tao where we decided to do our PADI dive course which was
probably one
marine park
one of the islands to ko phi phi of the best things we have done so far, we did ours at a place called Buddha View which i can reccomend to any people thinking of going. we also made alot of new friends there mostly people from the course (hey zoe & andy) and a couple who got engaged 18 meters down on out last dive which was cool.. thats the second couple to get engaged around us on this trip.. we must inspire love or somethin. anyway we stayed on koh tao for about 10 days then jumped across on to Koh phangan for the full moon party which was excellent even though it rained nearly the whole way through, putting a serious dampener on the fire dancers and the huge fire skipping rope.. but the party was cool never the less, lots of pumping speakers spilled buckets and no short amount of people doin stuff in the sea.... il leave it to your imagination.
So after Koh Phangan we needed to renew our visa which cannot be done in country you have to go out and come back in, resulting in 2 nearly 3 days traveling down to malaysia simply to walk across the boader and
Thailand
Thai petrol station... come back.. so we decided to come back up north via the west side and came to krabi. This is the side of thailand you tend to think of lots of huge limestone cliffs, turqoise waters and perfect beaches..
But didnt much like krabi town its a bit of a ghost town as were here in low season so we moved to Ao nang a beach abit further along which was really nice and the place Eve wanted to get her teeth whitened, but we decided to buy a portable DVD player for the rainy days as copied dvds are a massive business here and they're so cheap..
anyway we didnt stay that long there as we wanted to come to Ko Phi Phi (where the beach was filmed) and it is a true tropical paradise, even though there is still some rebuilding goin on from the tsunami its getting back on track.. one big thing here is that there are no roads only little paths everywhere which probably helps..so were gunna stay here for 10 days or so maybe do a dive and some kayaking then back up to bangkok to do the stuff
we didnt get to do
Khao sarn rd
just some of the crus of the water festival last time..
Ciao for now..
P.S. Eve spell checked this one so it should be ok = )
