Time for a swim
at the mesa elephant camp So after topping up our deepening tan in ko phi phi we moved on up, back to the hustle of Bangkok where we were due to meet one of my friends who came out to meet us for a few days and after the expected confusion of finding someone on foreign turf we got everything sorted.
feeling the need for a bit of culture we headed off the next day to the grand palace, and like everywhere we seem to go part of it was under construction, but the rest was.. well pretty damn shiny lots of big spires covered with gold and mosaic with ugly blue guys holding things up and looking generally unhappy about it. so we did a quickish tour around and had a gander at the emerald Buddha who was in is summer frock which the king comes to change every season.
so after the palace we mosied on to the reclining Buddha.. they really should rename Thailand to buddahland, you cant turn round for em.. although the reclining buddah was pretty impressive mother of pearl toes and all.. so all buddah'd out we decided to partake in another of Thailand 'things to do' and grabbed
a
speedy tuk tuk to the seedier side of Bangkok for a ping pong show with some other guys we met up with in china.. now i dont quite know what we were expecting but what we got was probably not it... after being herded down a back ally and through a decidedly normal looking reception we entered a small room with a raised podium surrounded by mirrored posts and ringed by chairs with not all the usual people you'd expect to be there, we spied four or five old Indian women.. anyway the actual show was a bit, well, crap really just a revolving string of blank faced girls doing tricks.. although how she opened that bottle of coke pretty original although abit on the impractical side.
We didn't do that much else in Bangkok although we did pay a visit to one of the tattoo parlours for me to have one done.. see pics. and eve had her belly re-pierced..
So we needed to move on and Phil decided he was going down to ko tao to do his PADI we came up to Chang Mai with the intention of doing some treks maybe some rafting but
in the
end dossed around and then went to the mesa elephant camp, which was brilliant !! as you get to be as close as you like and you can feed them and what have you and although there was a kind of show it wasnt in the cruel way, the elephants kicked some balls around and did some suprisingly good paintings... see pics
And on the way back i got to do somethin I've wanted to do for ages BUNGEE !! which i have to say is probably one of the biggest rushes i've ever had.. i cant say much more about it, it was just brilliant and something im really going to have to do again.
But alas our thai visa runs out again and its time to move on... TO LAOS !!
