Us on our balcony
Sunset drinks. Lovely. Thanks for your messages.
We have had a lovely couple of days on the beach here. The weather is better than we could have hoped for.
We have found a really quiet and pretty deserted beach (quite unusual for Phi Phi) about 10 minutes walk from our bungalow (The Beach Resort on Long Beach). It is really natural, with hermit crabs walking about and sea eagles sweeping around in the skies - and no music (thank god).
The reef off the shore is fantastic and we have taken some pictures. A few too many jelly fish but they just give a sharp sting which goes away after a minute. Trouble is- we can't see them.
The highlight on this beach has been the monkeys who come down to the beach in the late afternoon. Yesterday they were after crabs, today they were after us! I was admiring how sweet they looked and how funny it was for them to be pawing my book looking for food when the big male one (this was easy to tell when you saw the size of its tackle from behind) beared its teeth, growled and tried to make a run for
View from hill above our bungalow
The rock in the distance is Phi Phi Ley where the Beach was filmed. me. Luckily Nigel was on hand with a large stick to save me. By this stage I was already half way up the beach. Aren't animals sweet!!
We are off to Kantiang Bay on Ko Lanta tomorrow and hope to track down the complete peace and quiet we are still searching for - surely it exists somewhere in Thailand.
