An hour ferry from Koh Samui and we were at our final destination of the holiday... Koh Pha Ngan. We got a taxi to our resort - Chantaramas, a luxury resort right next to the beach. It is perfect! Gorgeous rooms with HUGE bed, indoor and outdoor shower, a bath fit for a king, room service, big tv, bar, restaurant, infinity pool, amazing views of the beach and sea...and the best bit... there were about 12 people in the whole resort, us being 4 of them!
Checked in, showered then hit the pool. Sampled a few cocktails from the huge cocktail menu in the sun.
Went to Mona Lisa for tea - in the town. The town was dead! We saw about 3 people. I think this time of year people stay on Koh Samui and travel over for the Full/Half/Black Moon Parties.
After food we bought some Chang and headed back to the resort, got into our Complementry Bath Robes, ran a nice hot bath, and had a group chill session in our Robes and in the bath. Great night!
Breakfast was gorgeous- museli and fruit and yoghurt, scrambled eggs, fresh orange juice. Yummy! Had a
day at the pool, got chatting to a couple who turned out to have been on our tour in Bangkok when we went to the Floating Market. Small world! We told them we were going to the Half Moon Party that night and they said they'd come with us.
Had tea at the resort - some more gorgeous sea food - then got ready in our Neon paint and Half Moon Party tees ready to get in the truck to the party in the forest.
Was ace! Got buckets for 300baht which was literally 50/50 of vodka and mixer, UV lights everywhere, proper dance music on to boogy to. Good fun. I moved onto beer after one bucket - coulndt handle it.
After endless dancing, chatting, drinking, chatting, dancing, throwing up (Richard), pirouetting (Baggers), laughing (Me and Andy), we decided to head back.
Next day we had a meeting to decide what to do. We;d got a few leaflets for island boat tours, quad biking, canooing... decided to go with quad biking as it was nearest. I wasnt overly confident with the idea...but what the hell, only live once...
Signed our lives away on this
form and got on our bikes, helmets on. Went on a 2 hour ride around the island with 2 instructors. It was definatly an adventure... after leaving with 5 bikes we returned with 3, Andy getting bit by a Monkey, photos of us feeding elephants, our adrenaline pumping after sliding down hill sides, up dried up rivers... It was mental! Wouldnt pass any UK safety test.
Got back to the place we hired them from and they had a dirt track to go round. Went round 5 or 6 times and was about to call it quits when, on my last corner, I hit it wrong, breaked but accelarated at the same time, went flying through the tyres, into a tree, fell off, grazed my leg and messed up my knee, unable to put any pressure through it...DISASTER!!
All called it quits, headed back to the resort, me being carried by the lads, and elevated it asap.
Next day it was no better and we had a long journey up to Bangkok via a ferry to Koh Samui. Ended up in wheelchair off the ferry and through the airport, the lads acrrying all the bags between them.
Some lass kindly threw up on Andys bag in the bus from the ferry to the airport, which made matters even more drastic!
More wheelchairs, being carried, paracetamol, ibuprofen...we eventually got to Bangkok. All exhausted, we chilled, then went to BKM Mall for tea and some last minute holiday shopping. Traffic there was terrible, taking 45 minutes, but only costing about £3.50. We got an hour to wizz round the mall, me in chair, to get our last minute holiday shopping.
Had tea at the mall, got taxi back, then bed! Was exhausted. Flight from Bangkok home was early so packed that night.
...
...
Eventually returned home at midnight the following day after Flight to Mumbai, Mumbai to London, Taxi from airport to Kings Cross, Train to York, York to Huddersfield... Bed!
A+E the next morning... for weeks on crutches!
Note to self: Don't get on a quad bike with only £12 holiday insurance!
