Hello all! Hope everyone is cool? We've had a pretty crazy couple of weeks at Coral Bungalows. It's all turned into a bit of a blur what with copious amounts of alcohol being consumed. As you can see from the pictures we haven't really done much constructive stuff, just got stuck in this place drinking and having a great time.
We've met so many people here, and what I've realised is that it is a seriously small world. Met 3 guys from Ipswich, one guy from Bury St Edmunds, 2 guys from Colchester, 1 guy from Clacton and another from Mersea Island of all places - how crazy is that? Travel all the way to Thailand to get away from Essex and it follows you here! I didn't mind really, they were all cool people so it wasn't a problem.
Went to the half moon party. It is set in the jungle. It's like a jungle clearing with steep hills around the edge leading up the mountains. There are bars dotted around the edge and a DJ booth at the front. It was a crazy party and I did have a good time, but the only problem was that
the music was really hard trance and techno. I just couldn't get into it and after about 12 hours it became a little tedious. Spent a lot of time just watching all the mash heads dancing around like crazy bastards after I dont know how many mind bending drugs!
After this we decided we would take it easy until the full moon party, just to give our brains (and our livers) a rest. No such luck. The next day was Baz and Eddie's last night so it would have been rude not to give them a send off. Excellent night ensued, with too many buckets being drunk and a lot of dancing on the tables.
I think I became a bit of a drunken legend at Coral as I kept getting random people coming up to me, shaking my hand and asking me if I was ok - oh dear. There were some crazier than me though. A guy from Manchester called Bezza had been stuck at Coral for 3 1/2 months of his 5 month holiday. This guy was a partying machine. He once went on a 4 day bender with no sleep, then disappeared for 2
Welcome to Coral
Note the deliberate mistake! days. When he finally returned he had been in hospital on de-tox for 2 days! As soon as he arrived back can you guess what he did? That's right, ordered himself another bucket!
Another Canadian guy called Ian drank around 35 buckets in one day (!!?!). The owner of the resort was so amazed about this (and the amount of money he had pissed up the wall) that he bought him breakfast! Nothing like looking after your clientelle eh?
The Haad Rin Thai Boxing Stadium is actually owned by Coral and they put on tournaments there every so often. At the resort there is a punchbag where a lot of the fighters train. I was messing around on it one day (trying to sweat out some alcohol from my system) and a Thai guy called Eddie approached me and offered to teach me how to use my knees and elbows. This has been great. He is one of the fighters for Coral and is a really nice guy, not to mention pretty hardcore so he has taught me loads of new skills.
On the 11th there was a tournament at the Stadium where he and a few
other guys that I had been training with were fighting so we went along to offer our moral support. 500 baht for ringside seats - now by ringside I mean seats that the judges would be envious of. I could extend my arm and touch the canvas. 2 out of the 4 Coral fighters won their fights (including Eddie) so it was overall a good night. I have now lost my voice from all the shouting. It was really nice to be able to cheer somebody on for a reason rather than just randomly shouting "KICK HIM!!" every now and then. Obviously an after party went on into the early hours so another night's drinking and dancing was had. The thing that I love about the Muay Thai over here is the mutual respect that the fighters have for one another. Each time one fighter is knocked out, the other rushes over to check that he is ok, then helps him to his feet. Also at the after party, all of the guys who have just knocked ten tonnes of shite out of each other are dancing and drinking together having a great time. Somehow I couldn't see Lennox Lewis
and Mike Tyson doing this, could you? I am a bit annoyed actually because in July Eddie is going to be fighting for a title in one of Bangkok's biggest stadiums so I really wanted to go along and cheer for him. We have decided to go to as many Muay Thai events as possible, just because it is a brilliant night's entertainment for an excellent price.
Went to the full moon party on 13th. It was probably the best party I have ever been to, however after so many nights of pissedness I almost wasn't in the mood!! (I know, what an arsehole!). It's one big beach party and each bar plays a different type of music so there is something for everyone - unless you end up stuck in between two bars where it begins to sound like me trying to mix late on a friday night! Everyone is wasted, everyone has a smile on their face and EVERYONE is dancing. When the sun rises you look down the beach and all you see is a load of casualties lying face down in the sand!. The only people that are still standing are a few local Thais

Sol - He always has a mischeivous look on his face. Has some pretty slick card tricks under his belt. scouring the beach for dropped money, cameras etc etc.
Well although we had the best of times at Coral, I am now all partied out and need a break. I was very sorry to leave, but on the other hand if we stayed there any longer I would have definitley ended up with a lot less money, only 1 kidney and liver failure!
We have just arrived back on Koh Tao where we plan to chill for a few days then do our advanced diving course where we will dive to 30 metres! Promises to be pretty amazing!
