Waiting for the ferry to Koh Pha Ngan for Full Moon party. everyone was rough. Koh Phan Gan, Full Moon Party - Local Brew : BUCKETS!!!!!!!
The boat ride from Koh Samui to Koh Pha Ngan was pretty chilled. On arrival the 9 of us jumped in a long tail taxi boat to take us up the coast to Baan Kai beach and the Morning Star resort which was to be our base for the Full Moon Party and home for the next 4 days.
The resort was beautiful. We all had air conditioned beach huts with fully stocked mini fridge (which didn’t stay fully stocked for long!). The sea was dead calm all the time we were there and the sunsets were unbelievable. After a hard day chillin in the hammocks and much needed pool we pulled the team together and headed down to Haad Rin beach, arena for the Full Moon party in 2 days time. We get down there expecting a few people to be milling around having a quiet drink…. not to be. The whole beach was banging. The team clicked into party mode and that was that. Next thing, CyberStan runs off like a man possessed. We found him soon after, shirt off, jumping through a flaming skipping rope
with two other nutters. The rope was doused in petrol and set alight! You had to keep jumping otherwise the rope would hit you and burn all your tash and eyebrows off, simple as that. Glad to say he escaped unscathed which is more than can be said about other people who jumped in and set themselves on fire (video’s attached). Oh yeah, not to forget my cousin Billy from Jersey who went off to the toilet only to come back 20 minutes later with ear lobe pierced!!??? What the…..? Needless to say it went septic and gave him a load of hassle. I tell you, these Jersey lads are not the brightest bulbs on the Christmas Tree!
The Full Moon Party day came. We bought body paints and face paints and got ourselves looking as camp as a row of tents. The Tuk Tuk (taxi type thing in Thailand where you can hang off the outside while it’s driving and you're steaming) came to pick us up and Billy starts shouting at the woman driver. “Oi, that’s my T-shirt you’ve got on!” He’d left his T-shirt in the same taxi the night before, next day the driver was
Our beach
on Koh Pha Ngan. This was our view from our beach hut. Sweeeet. wearing it, funny as hell.
The Full Moon party was absolutely mental as to be expected. The only downside was all the Thai men in the crowds that we spotted openly trying to open girls handbags and rob them. As soon as they noticed we had sussed them they were off, into the crowd to find another victim. Bad news.
Unperturbed, we partied on. The Full Moon Party is mental. There is at least twenty thousand people on the beach raving infront of 7 or 8 different dance arena's and probably another thousand strewn around the beach collapsed and motionless! Glad to say, we all got through it unscathed.
We met up with Jordan n the boys and Keira, Mahood and crew from Jersey. We also met up with Gav Powell from Leeds and his girlfriend who were in Thailand to get married the week after so there was a big old crew in town.
After a couple of hours in a bar/club up on Mushroom Mountain (where the night turned a pear shaped corner and Scott 'SHADOW' Walsh was walking into walls in time to the music!) we all congregated back on the beach to party
and watch the sunrise. All except for one of the lads (mentioning no names) who missed the night altogether after meeting a mysterious Aussie girl and jumped on a speedboat back to Koh Samui at about 10 O’Clock to read her a bedtime story. Tut Tut, missed a great night.
We jumped in a Tuk Tuk back to the resort at around 7am. On the way back we rounded a winding corner at the bottom of a steep hill, straight into the path of an overturned motorbike in the middle of the road. We shouted for the driver to stop, all jumped out and noticed 2 lads smashed and unconscious in a ditch at the side of the road. They were in a bad way but looked like they were still breathing. It was a gruesome sight. We stopped all other oncoming traffic and waited for some people to arrive who took control of the situation. It was a bad end to a top day and left us all on a downer. Hopefully they were alright.
The rest of our time on Koh Phan Gan was spent chillin, drinking, smoking, playing poker (shit we’ve got some bad habits!)
In the Tuk Tuk taxi
Well actually hanging off the back of it as it sped over the mountains at the speed of sound. and we also took a group of Aussie lads on at ‘Soccer’as they called it. Funny. They gave it their best shot and never stopped running but the final score was England 8 Australia 2.
All Full Mooned out, time to pack up our glad rags and head back to Koh Samui for a few days before heading off to Phuket, Phi Phi, and Koh Lanta.
