Friday January 19th:
Hello everyone,
Sorry that I haven't blogged in a while. There just hasn't been much time to write over the weekend. Friday morning we woke up at 5:15 am and had breakfast at 5:45 in order to pack our luggage and leave by 6:30. We got to Chiang Mai Airport 45 minutes before our flight was supposed to take off so we had some minor difficulties getting them to check-in our bags. We did find a way but I’m thinking this also made our flight take off 20 minutes late. The plane was going to be flying from Chiang Mai to Pattaya, South-Western Thailand. From there we had a 2.5 hour van ride to the ferry which would take us to the island of Koh Chang. After a stop for a snack (chips and Oreos) and two hours in the van, we stopped for lunch at a famous noodle place. I got beef with noodles (soup, cut up beef, and thin rice noodles). The meal was delicious but it also would’ve helped if the place was air conditioned since it was a humid 85 degrees out.
As soon as we got back in the van, they

This ferry could hold 30 cars and the ride would be 30 minutes to the island. Our driver drove the van onto the ferry and once parked, we were able to get out. The fresh air was much needed after my long morning stuck in a van. As we started approaching the island we all ran back to the van because as soon as the ferry stopped, we would be driving off. The drive to our resort was 20 minutes of curvy roads. For an island and the amount of resorts, the streets reminded me a lot of the poorest parts of Chiang Mai. These poor areas were hidden by the resorts that masked the reality of the island life.
At 4:30 pm we approached the Chill, a five-star resort owned by the sister-in-law of our friend Pi Jit (director of BCNC). We collected our luggage and were offered passion fruit juice and a cool cloth for our hands/face as soon as we stepped in
Finally here!
Our passion fruit drinks in the lobby. the lobby. I knew I was going to love this place. There were seats, couches, and beds to relax on in the lobby. Walking through the lobby placed you near the rooms on the first floor who had direct access to the pool from their porch.
Most of us were located on the second floor and when we entered our room we were surprised to see two beds! Libby and I chose to room together for this trip as we have become closer through our Thailand journey. Our room had a front porch as well with a bed to lounge on. Although our room was really nice, our main goal was to spend as much time as possible out in the sun.
Dinner was quickly approaching so I changed into elephant pants and a nice top. Mocktails were at 5:30 and dinner at 7:00. Because we were guests of the owner, they had special meals prepared for us and reserved a large table for us in order to accommodate for our large group. Along with various drinks we also had appetizers. Mini hot dogs (shaped to look like squid), seasoned peanuts, breadsticks wrapped with bacon, and toasted French

First floor rooms with pool access. baguette with cheese were the appetizer options.
Unfortunately many of us filled up on appetizers so when dinner came around we weren’t prepared for what was about to happen. We were served a 5-course meal of shrimp roll, coconut soup, chicken skewers, chicken with steamed rice, and bananas (bananas foster) for dessert. I tried to eat small amounts of every dish but they wouldn’t take my plate until I finished 90% of the plate in front of me. To say I was full would be a major understatement. I was so stuffed I made a few friends walk around with me on the beach.
The pool and beach closed at 8 pm or else we would have gone swimming, so we decided to watch a movie instead. Hangover Part III was the movie of choice because we thought it took place in Bangkok, Thailand. After finishing the movie we realized that the second Hangover movie was the one set in Thailand so we wasted our time. It was still a great time to bond with friends.
It was time for bed soon after the movie ended so Libby and I went back to our room where we

Libby happy to have a comfy bed to sleep on. changed into the robes and slippers provided 😊 The bed was so comfortable after sleeping on concrete for two weeks. The plan for tomorrow was to wake up at 6:30 to get to the beach as early as possible.
