We caught a first class sleeper to Chiang Mai in the end. It was more expensive but we figured staying in Bangkok for a night to get a cheaper overnight sleeper would amount to the same sort of price. The first class sleeper train was an experince in itself. We ended up meeting some fellow bristolians and getting fairly drunk. The eating carriage turned into a party carriage and i spent quite a lot of the night dancing with one of the staff members who taught me a few moves, she could dance. In the morning we had a slight argument with the staff. They had put a bottle of whiskey on the guys bill but they would nto pay it as they had not ordered. Then the bottle suddenly jumped on to our bill. Anyway, we argued our case. There was a threat of the railway police to which we said we would gladly explain and surprise surprise, no more was mentioned of the extra money. Now we have been in Chiang Mai for a good few days. I like it here although some of the places can be a bit more expensive if you dont look around. Great market! We have to do a border run to extend our visa so I think the next stop is Chiang Rai. Currently in contact with a tattooist in Bangkok, hmmmmmm. Should I or should i not? decisions
