Warning: By reading my blogs you are willingly choosing to go inside of my head and join me on this journey. I could not portray what I am seeing and feeling without being %! (MISSING)me, which means writing it word for word how it plays in my head. Thank you for choosing Paige airways and enjoy your flight
Notes and Thoughts
Favorites:
As an official traveler of the world there are a few things that I’m so happy I have and would never want to be without when on the road.
1. Prescription sunglasses. While driving motorbikes, hiking or lounging in the sun, I never want to be without my polarized wonders. In fact as the sun goes down, if I have forgotten to bring out my regular glasses I find my self cruising around in the dark with my shades on just so I can see clearly.
2. JBL cordless Bluetooth speakers. I’m a mobile party; these things bump where ever I go.
3. Steripen adventurer opti. A water purifying pen that destroys %! (MISSING)of bacteria by sending ultraviolet LED pulses through your water. Does 1 liter in 90 secs. If I didn’t
have this little beauty I would have to buy bottles of water every time I wanted a drink. Instead I stay fully hydrated all day long.
Food I love:
Category- no name street food
1. Spiced grounded chicken wrapped around lemongrass stem and deep fried, aka lemongrass infused meat stick. Amazeballs!
2. Potato swirl, on a stick. Cored and spiraled potato on a stick and fried and dusted with spicy paprika. So simple so elegant so delicious.
3. Thai sushi cart. Concept- pieces of different kinds of sushi, you pick how ever many of whatever kind you like and pay by the bite size piece. My favorite was the jelly fish roll. Never had jelly fish before loved it especially on rice wrapped in seaweed.
Category- other
1. Tom Yum Goong, if done right is the best food in Thailand. Don’t be fooled by shitty tom yum. By luck I had the best in Pai, with perfectly cooked shrimp in a metal pot on a fire. Boomcakes!
2. Strawberry beet and lime smoothie! Lady in red I never knew thee. Beets and strawberries should get married.
Food I DO NOT love:
1. Potato curry crepe
2. Bap! What a joke, on Jacob! Scenario: lets get something to eat real fast before we head out for the day. We come upon what appears to be a sandwich stand. Jacob asks the british couple next to us, “what is Bap?” she replies (try to imagine with british accent) “its like bread, you know but its toasted, but not like a toasty like the ones my mum makes. Basically it’s a bread that’s toasted with meat, you know what I mean?” so like a fucking sandwich, thanks for the help. Jacob orders bacon bap, 10 mins later he gets a hamburger bun with 2 pieces of bacon on it, that’s it. Walk away, throw away, moving on!
3. Chang Beer contains formaldehyde. Very popular
People we love:
1. Leeann and Bank, owners of HI 5 Bar, and personal Pai gurus. Met them trying to find our guesthouse, returned to bar every night for a rocking good time and any questions we had about the town.
2. John and Daniel, Canadian. DJ’s at HI 5 in exchange to live in a room in the back.
3. Don and Lauren, father and son, grew up in Talkeetna Alaska, Lauren currently resides on the big island of Hawaii. Love running into them and conversating again and again, reminiscing on Hawaii and learning about Alaska.
4. Nong, crazy Thai tattoo artist at Z one tattoo. Currently Bamboo tattooing Jacob. Listens to really intense and loud techno. Extremely talented artist. I mean WOW.
5. Tyrone. Canadian met while watching a pack of wild dogs fight on a bridge. Had drinks at Ting Tong, funny dude.
Note: to all the hippie boys and girls walking around with no shoes, I shouldn’t have to say it but this is why you're dumb. Not wearing shoes defeats the purpose of removing your shoes before entering some ones home or place of business. Now your feet are dirty shoes and it's disrespectful. You might get tetanus. Plus it’s like 90 degrees outside and the asphalt has to be hot. Go take a shower and learn some manners.
Cheap things in Thailand:
1. Motor bike rental 120 baht ($4 US) a day
2. 60 minute massage. head, back, shoulders and feet 200 baht ($6.6 US)
3. Room and board ranging anywhere between 100-600 baht ($3-20 US) so far we’ve paid $15, that includes a queen bend, our own bathroom, some places AC, or a secluded bungalow. Luxurious!
4. street food is usually 30 baht ($1 US)
Things that are not cheaper in Thailand:
1. getting fake nails
2. Alcohol
3. shampoo and conditioner
Note: Motor bikes are awesome and I’m awesome at riding them! Which is good cause we plan on being a couple of biker dudes when we retire.

I can't believe you've made so many friends already! I mean... I can - you are pretty popular :) But seriously! So many friends! And can we please talk about the beer with formaldehyde?! WTF?! I'm taking so many notes re: Thai food! I want to go to there... JUST for the food :) I mean, strawberry beet and lime smoothie?! HELLO! That sounds AMAZEBALLS. Do you think it's easily recreated at home? Additionally... I've been pretty much telling everyone I know about this blog. I'm so impressed! A) How do you find the time between all of your activities to remember to write us updates?! B) I love that you write just as you would tell me about everything. It's almost like I'm hearing about it in person! I think my coworkers are getting irritated by my constant giggling and out loud reading of your blog. This whole trip is just so amazing! I look forward to your posts every day... so keep 'em comin'! Love you! PS... feeling any better?
