The best t-shirt in thailand
notice the charming illustration ? well! last time i wrote we had just arrived in chiang mai and i was loving it.....still do as a matter of fact, though i think i might have changed my mind about moving here. the shopping here is un-fucking-believable. it seems that anything in thailand can be bought for a cost. as our neighbour at our guesthouse seems to have long discovered. he's the skeeziest, creepiest old man i have ever met! anyway he's originaly from the states and he moved to sweden 10 years ago, and then came here for vacation 2 years ago and never left. the reason i know all of this is because he corners me every chance he gets and tells me a new little "tidbit" of his life story. i know everything, including how an unfair documentary was made and shed him in the light of a crazy sports dad, pushing his kids to perfection in the intense world of..............tennis:-P so yes, i also know his kids life stories as well. i came down the stairs the other night after seeing him bring yet another young thai girl into his room, and since his window was opened i "overheard" the deal that went on.
Firebug
this is the one you heard pre-tell about :) it went something like this: her: how much you pay me? him: i was hoping you'd pay me..chuckle chuckle her: i pay you 1 baht, how much you pay me? him: i pay you 1,000,000 baht now get over here....... SICK! it was quite interesting to hear something like that so up close and personal though!!! let me see ...what else..... i got extremly drunk off samsung for the first time! its the thai whisky that supposedly makes you crazy. i think it did the trick! i ended up having a water gun fight (actually it was more one sided then that.....it went more like i have the water gun and you can sit there and take it beotches!!!the thai girls who Work there got a big kick out of it because these guys had been trying to pick them up so now everytime they see me they give me high five! id like to know exactly whats expected when you offer water guns to drunks(especially "crazy" ones). hmm..... its really difficult to think of everything thats happened so ill just skip too ....the trek! i went on a 2 day 1 night trek through the jungle a few days
Four Leaf Clovers
I think this has got to be one of the coolest pics ive ever taken...... a sea of four leaf clovers ago.mom stayed behind because she wasnt into the whole jungle idea. it was so fun! we started off off hiking from this village to a waterfall that was so so. then we went to a temple and a hilltribe village. then we hiked 2 hours uphill through the jungle. im going to list off all the things we saw; a firebug (these pee on you and their pee is like acid) a stickbug, a turantula, all kinds of other wierd spiders, a green snake that i just about stepped on at the water fall, frogs and crabs in the rice patties, and the best off all......a king cobra! we all had to run for our lives when that appeared on the trail. we also saw some pretty incredible plants like one that can keep HIV patients alive, a bubble plant that if you break the stem you can blow bubbles out of it, a fern that curls on your finger when you touch it, a logish thing that has water in it that acts like viagra, and a tampon, that i made the mistake of touching because i was so filled with the wonders of the jungle! i bought some
Budha Heads
these look like they are a good size but they were actually the size of a quarter. they were hand carved by a single monk and there were thousands of them really ugly pants in honour of this trip for $3.... well you get what you pay for because qbout 20 minutes before we got to the place we were staying for the night, they ripped all up the crotch...im talking from one side to the other .... and given my tendancy to go comando this turned into quite an embarassing situation. i had to walk to the camp pants clutched in hand. that night i was informed by one of the spanish guys that he thought the reason i was clutching myself was because he thought i was having "woman problems" dammit! but things got better. we stayed in a rustic little bamboo hut and after an awsome meal of cucumber soup and chicken stirfry they built a fire for us and we drank chang beer and listed to an old man from the village play instruments. as is the traditon when going on a trek, i was obliged to try opium for the first (and last) time. if it was real im not sure, but i dont honestly see what the fuss is about . but it was fun and added to the "experience" of the trek and i
got some great pictures of dialated pupils. after a very very late night we were all dragged out of bed to continue with our hike. let me tell you , there is nothing like a sweltering hike uphill to clear a hangover. we got to the most amazing waterfalls i have ever seen where we were able to wash and cool down. the watefalls were huge but you could stand behind them and right under them just like in the movies. it was beautiful! we went elephant riding, which was pretty awful as the elephants were treatd quite badly. we also went bamboo rafting which was fun untill it capsized after we hit a rock. living on the wild side. oh! we also took a thai cooking course which is kind of ironic considering we are on a thai food strike, but now i know how to hand pound my own green curry paste, a useful like skill when you live in canada! we went to the chaing mai caberet which as it turned out is all ladyboys! some of them were obviously men but we were sure that some of them had to be girls. these boys were beautiful
Rice patties
outside the village where we ate lunch with perfect bodies and boobs and hair and the works. when we came out of the theater they were all lined up and started crowding around us asking picture picture? we thought right on! great souvenier! tunrs out they wanted $100 baht each! since there were 4 in on this operation, two that posed with us and 2 that took the picture (how many thais does it take to screw in a l;ightbulb..) we refused and gave them 20 baht and ran! nice try guys...hmm i mean ladies! so thats about it with me. i am headed to australlia on the 19th, which is quite a bit sooner than i expected but im quite pumped about seeing yet another continent. im going tro be staying with my friend jamie in surfers paradise and will hopefully be meeting up with my friend blake, derek and renee at some point. ill be back in thailand november and after working in aus can hopefully do most of my christmas shopping there..... :-D you know who to email if you dont want coal in your stockings! just kidding , im not taking bribes...backpacks already to full....... well i think thats about all folks.... OH...WAIT....I
Bubble Plant
our trek guide ATE A BUG! it was a bamboo worm and it tasted like a potao chip!
