Stumbled into the back of a truck at 9 in the morning after a big night in celebration of SA's victory over Aus. Went to Spicy club (that has a big sign outside that says NO CHIC BOYS) Only got back at 8am. Had a rather arduous 3 hour drive up and down and around into the northern Thai mountains. Got off, and started trekking up and down and around all these very steep valleys. Stunning scenery. Our guide 'Beckham' showed us how to shoot rocks in this crazy manner with our fingers. Got to our camp in this tiny rural village where we immediately played some soccer against the locals. Kicked there butts. Had an incredible dinner and watched as the locals got plastered off of Moonshine. I had some myself as well, this stuff is ridiculous. Smells like a combo of rocket fuel and methylated spirits. It tasted even worse. They make all that stuff up in the mountains. Next day we hiked to a waterfall which was so nice to swim in and from there travelled by elephant for an hour or so down this valley. It was actually pretty cool. I went on the neck of this
Pig and Chicken hangout.
Tiny village near the waterfall. massive bull elephant. It was a bit dodgy at times because he kept grabbing my foot with his trunk but luckily he never pulled down. Played this game "bang and bong" that night, got pretty messy.
Next day we went bamboo rafting which was brilliant. It really was. I was in the back with my pole feeling like I was Huck Finn. It was nuts, we would smash into rocks and the bamboo would come apart or snap and our front pole man would jump off and tie it all back together with shards of bamboo.
We were in a group of 12 people all of which were really nice and a lot of fun. 3 Canadian ladies, 2 swedish ladies, a german guy, crazy scottish guy, couple of young english ladies and an aussie girl. really good group headed by "crazy man" who was either crazy or tried his darndest to live up to his nickname. Was continually boozing and smoking opium.
There was no litter on the any of the trails which was great. Scenery was beautiful and the company was great.
Back in Bk now, Dean's coming tonight. Booyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ciao
