Thailand has been one exciting experience after another. After a week of teaching in a variety of schools and classrooms today was a day to celebrate children. Today the education students had an opportunity to observe and participate in what is known as The Children's festival. Traditional classes were canceled for the day at all of the local schools in Chiang Mai. In its place was a half day of singing, music, and dancing all performed by the students. We saw children as young as three years old stand on stage and perform a Thai dance.
We, the education students, were asked if we could do something with the children on stage. Not having much time to prepare we got up on stage and sang If You are Happy and You Know it, and then played musical chairs with a group of Thai students.
The day was a fascinating experience to see a day devoted to celebrating children.
