After 12 hours sleep - awoke to a beautiful morning, listening to the constant calling of a tropical bird (feathered variety), its name as yet unknown to us. Petted the dogs, giving them the last of our ham, we'll buy some dog biscuits later to ensure they stay friendly. Had wonderful trek in the rainforest with our guide. His name sounded like'yawn' but could have been anything really. Between his minimal English and our non-existent Thai, conversation was fascinating. After 4hours of trekking, we are proud that we can now identify at least 3 different types of animal poo. Of course, we learned a lot more than this and had a fantastic day. At one of the look out points we found ourselves the subjects of curiosity. We were asked to pose for photos, concluding that we tall westerners were rarer than the Gaurs, in this region. The large buffalo). In fact, we only saw one other small group of non-Thais all day. Interesting fact, US army airforce had a helicopter ops base here in the park up until 1969 used for operations in Vietnam and the helicopter pad is partially visible within the lush forest.
Bought
aforesaid dog food, now we are sitting in the red moon bar having enjoyed a very tasty stir-fry and fried rice, cooked freshly in front of us. They have Internet so we hope to post something shortly.
Tip of the day: take plenty of fly-spray into loos as swarms of large black wasps abound.
