Thailand, Pattaya, 10-03-2009, afternoon.
The PS Guesthouse down in Soi Yamato seems to be the main gathering place of the Kathoey Sisterhood - or was it brotherhood? - in Pattaya arriving late at night on the back of hired taxi motorbikes, their bare hairless legs to one side of the bike as a lady should, high harsh giggles ringing in the air when they recognise their friends, high pitched Thai voices hurting my ears.
During the day it is usually okay with the PS Guesthouse being the only place in town where I can read my book undisturbed though this dumphouse is the biggest shorttime hotel in Pattaya where only a select group of mostly dutch and Belgium Farang can stay, old hands to Pattaya returning each year, spending most of their time down in the foyer drinking Foster and Chang beer, filling up ashtray after ashtray. Often in the company of several Hot Mommas who have rooms upstairs and hope for a few free drinks, maybe drag one of these professional drunks up the stairs for a good session of...well, I'm sure you get the idea...this is Pattaya after all.

on an Asian market boulevard with determination bringing Farang after Farang into the foyer, up the stairs and gone into a room. No more free soap or clean towel as Kees informed me furiously...just plain old simple, you pay 100 Baht at the reception and what you pay your lady is your business, what happens inside the room is Pas De Problem to Miss Lek the Nasty Receptionist Lady who is rumoured by her alcoholic Farang clietĂȘle to still be a virgin though already in her mid forties.
At night when the Kathoeys rule the PS Guesthouse the place can quite literally turn into a madhouse with these transverstites in their GoGo Bar outfits aggresively approaching intoxicated Farang males on their way home. A mere fife minutes chitchat with any one of them before moving on can be grounds for a 500 Baht note...hey man, you need to pay me for my time...
A bend gray haired Farang in a stained flanel suit despite the hot afternoon sun being dragged in by a hard pushing Moo - her new English Tilak must be having his Siesta while Moo is quickly snatching at the opportunity to make a few spare Baht. While her

Further down Soi Yamato you will find the raucous englsih bars like the Dog's B*llocks, rowdy places open untill late where the customers love the knock down big pints of Lager all night before smashing each other's heads in and spending a few nights of sobering up in the Monkey House in Soi Police Station, a hefty fine and off you are.
