Hey everyone! Arrived in Koh Samet yesterday for some beach relaxation - yipee! The beach is lovely - sea so clear and warm! Sat on the beach last night drinkin cocktails - bliss (and then the boys decided to throw each other in the sea!) Just gonna chill out this week - got a boat trip organised for tomorrow and we're hopin to rent a quad bike for the day to explore the island a bit. Cant believe weve only got another week left in Thailand and then we are almost halfway thru our whole trip - time definately flies when you're havin fun!!
So anyway, last weeks news.... Trekkin week started on Monday and we drove to Phutoei National Park - was a long drive so just pitched our tents (in an ant battlefield - not good!) and had tea. The next day we started early and were trekkin to our next campsite thru the jungle - we had to wade across streams & climb waterfalls - it was ace! Was not so impressed by the killer hill we had to climb at the end tho - some bits were almost vertical!! Got to the campsite which was a
school field up in the hills. In the evening just before tea Chris and the other lads had a football match with the Thai rangers which they won and corradi was on fire with two amazin goals!! We even found a Man City fan in the middle of nowhere (see pic!!) The campfire was lit which the rangers started to leap over - crazy fools!! Chris was happy with a water barrel as a drum and we sang into the night...
The next day we started off by going into 3 caves which was pretty cool. Some of the passage ways were really small, especially the alternative exit we decided to take involving sliding on our belly thru an extemely small hole! Did not help that we had just spotted bats, a huge spider and lots of wierd beetle things which looked like something from space!! After that we trekked to a big waterfall which again involved wading thru streams and climbin a pretty big waterfall - it was so cool if a little dangerous (Thailand does not know the meaning of Health & Safety!!) Once we reached the waterfall we all jumped in - even cracked open the
shampoo!! Definately one of the best bits about the trip!
On our last day we drove to a natural dam, gettin stuck in the mud on the way - the boys managed to push 3 of the trucks out with Chris almost being crushed by a sliding back wheel - managed to save himself by a superfly backdrop into the truck!!! We all wet ourselves when we heard a high pitched squeal followed by our gay guide coming round the corner holding on for dear life (see pic)!! Eventually arrived at the dam which was beautiful. We went for a swim which was nice but very weedy!! At night we chilled by the water and even got up for a dance in a make shift disco (very dodgy, ready to collapse bamboo hut!) Met some wierd local who joined in with our cool moves - "Ming, Thailand" were his only words but we christened him Thai Crack Head (TCH) as he was definately on something!! Boys being boys decided to start a pull up competition from the roof which ended with Chris trying to do some sort of roll, fallin off & pulling the electrics out!! We got up
super early the next mornin to watch the sun rise (which didnt actually show itself until 7am once we had been up since 5.30!) It was amazin tho, pictures look like something off a postcard. After that we left the camp and drove to a hotel for the night (for a much needed warm shower and normal toilet!) Went back to the disco we went to last week but this time our mate, Mike (aka Tommy Lee) did a set on the decks which was cool! Had our last night at the Eco House on Sat which was a full moon so we made flower arrangements which you put candles in then sail them down the river.
so, next time we update we will be back in Bangkok gettin ready for Oz! Hope everyones ok - heard its very cold with a bit of snow - o well, we will just go back to our sunbathin in bright sunshine - haha!! Lots of love to you all.
Love, Morrag & Ross (which for the few first days were our names accorrding to Nat (or Norbit) which has now stuck!) xxxxxxxx
