Shot Chloe and went to Octave Rooftop bar in the marriot
I have always loved Rooftop bars and Bangkok is known for having a lot of them. I have a list of at list 15 rooftop bars.
After I had a long day in the water shooting a mermaid from Korea (shots later); Keith, my ozzy photo parter in Bangkok, and I, went to the rooftop bar to scout how difficult it would be to shoot Bangkok’s night lights. The view is stunning. The bar has two levels and the top top is completely uncovered. No glass. It is on the 45
th floor. Really not that high but the 360 degree view makes you feel on top of the world. Octave Rooftop bar is located at the top floor of the Marriot Hotel and it is very easy to get to by BTS. It is right next to Thong Lo BTS station and doesn’t enforce the dress code. I saw girls wearing flipflaps and guys with shorts, but I wouldn’t risk getting denied access so I bought a pair of dressy “thai” shoes before heading over there. I loved the bar’s contemporary design and the blue neon
lights. It was really hard to capture the deep blue of the light hand holding the camera but I tried to make the best out of it. The top bar is limited to 120 people standing and sitting. The floor below showcases a new-age fusion cuisine like Asian-style tapas platters and a seafood bar along with wines and beverages. For more info click here:

Beers are about 200 THB and a glass of wine or cocktail averages to 400 THB. I did not look at the menu at the restaurant …It would have been interesting to know prices. I was a bit curious because the restaurant was pretty busy I have to say.
If I had been able to use my tripod I would have happily paid for a couple of drinks. Since I couldn’t shoot properly I filmed a short clip just to give you an idea of how it looks like. I will probably try to visit all the roof top bars …. Click here to see a short video

Here is a cool video that shows some of the other rooftop bars on my list, it is shot during the day and it gets slow between bars but I like that the producer besides the views, shows the buildings where the bars are located as a reference point of view
