Bangkok

We've arrived finally.

The flight over wasn't too bad Etihad airways were very good both planes were very new and clean. Our snacks turned out to be propper meals so we didn't get as hungry as we thought! Petes legs are fine but having been awake for 30 hours we were very tired when we finally got here.

While waiting in heathrow, we realised that Pete had forgotten to bring the paper receipt for our hotel booking which also had directions for the hotel we are staying at in Thai to give the taxi driver!!! (Bex now has all important peices of paper!) All we had when we landed was a scrap of paper with the address written on it in English, which wasnt any help. We found a taxi willing to take us to the hostel and after chatting to his other driver mates he seemed to know where he was going ( Or so we thought...) After about 1/2 and hour he stopped to ask a few people directions who informed him he was in the wrong part of town - so off we sent again. This time we arrived in the correct

part of town but again the driver had to ask people for directions several times- eventually after about 1 hour and 15 minutes driving around Bangkok's crazy roads (they have no rules and you simply drive in the lane with the least trafic regardless of the side of the road your meant to be on!!) we found the hotel.

The hotel is fab they let us in with out the booking recipt (Perhaps as well or pete was off to trail the streets looking for a room) our room is very clean with an ensuite loo and shower (luxury) and a big kingsize bed and air con which is very very usefull. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk for the legendary Koh San Road (Backpaker gettho - see pic). Having dropped out bags we hearded in that direction looking for food. It wasn't long before we realised that you can buy apsolulty anything on Koh San Road. Little did we realise that a simple stroll would mean taking our own lives - apart form the madeness on the roads when crossing (we have no idea which direction to look for oncommin gcars, tuk tuks, bussed, bikes and other people) there were also the cars and moterbikes whos oly rules are if it fits up the ally then it is a road who we are sure speed up when approachging a white person looking like a rabbit in head lights no knowing where to run!

After barely been in Bangkok for 2 hours, our first injurry was sustained when Pete tripped over the pavement and managed to cut his big toe!! So we quickly returned to our hotel room to patch Pete up and then decided it was safer to get soom food from the restaurant in the hotel. We had a meal for 2 and drinks for a total of 150 Bhat! That's about 2.50GBP! Bargain.

After this and having been awake for 30 hours, we went back to our room and collapsed!
