Hello from Bangkok!

After just over 24 fun filled hours of airports and middle seats coach we finally arrived in Bangkok around midnight local time on Saturday. All things considered, the trip actually turned out to be must better than expected including the 5 hour layover in Toyko which ended up being a great opportunity to regain feeling in my legs and get to know some of the other students on the trip a little better. Upon arrival in Bangkok we were met by our personal tour guide for the next two weeks, Khun Siddi. He escorted us by bus to our accomidations at Thammasat University where we were greated by a small welcoming comitte at the East Asian Studies building which we will be calling home. After introductions we each were presented with a small wreath made of fresh jasmine (which smells wonderful) and a refreshing drink of fresh coconut milk (straight out of our own personal coconut with a straw in it). By this point it was just after 1:30am and our travels had finally taken their toll on us, so the group said good night and we preceded off to bed.

Today (Sunday) was a fun filled day of touring Whats (Temples), shopping, and loads of wonderful Thai food. I would love to write more, but it's already midnight here and class starts in the morning, so stay tuned for another entry tomorrow (I'm also bound and determined to figure out how to get at least a few of the 100+ pictures I took today into my next entry). Talk to you soon!

p.s. Before anyone makes any cracks about my spelling, keep in mind I'm using a keyboard covered in thai letters and my computer only does spell checking in Thai, so I'm doing the best I can 😊
