About to get on a train to Kanchanburi, it takes about four hours to travel 100km, so plenty of time to observe the scenery. Keep getting concerned messages from friends - not from biological relatives of course who don't even know where I am - so leaving Bangkok seems like the right thing to do.

Realised when I left the Night Bazaar last night that I was on the fringe of the area where the grenades exploded. It was only because I decided to follow the subway route - the most inefficient possible - back, that I didn't walk right into where all the violence was taking place. Bryan called me at 2am to find out if I'd seen anything. Possibly he even wanted to check that I was still alive. Sweet.
