Coming back through the Laos border back to Thailand was pain free, especially compared to how it had been crossing into Laos. When we crossed the Friendship Bridge, the bus simply started driving on the other side of the road. It didn't really feel too much like crossing a border! We arrived in Bangkok early, and had to wait around from five o'clock to book into a guest house. This wasn't an issue as the bars on the Khao San never close, so we got some breakfast, had a beer and people watched for a while.

Bangkok is the kind of place that is full of characters. A few times, near the Khao San Road, we have seen a man on cycle rickshaw which is decorated in neon colours and illuminous nick nacks. He always wears bright pyjamas and huge red star sunglasses. He rides around with Johnny Cash blaring from his boom box picking people up to take them for a ride. We also saw a man on a motorbike with a long haired dog on the front wearing shades and a cowboy hat posing for pictures. The Khao San is also the kind of place where you can buy anything that you want, be it a fake driving license or some new clothes. You could quite easily leave home without anything at all, not even a rucksack, and you would be able to get anything that you needed there.

Whilst in Bangkok again, we took the opportunity to see a few more of the sites. We spent the day at Lumphi Park, which was really beautiful, and even went bowling together. Siam Square was pretty amazing as well, and there were some really cool art galleries knocking about as well. At one point we managed to get stuck in the biggest traffic jam that we have ever seen that was caused by the Queens birthday celebrations, where literally everyone in the whole of Bangkok seemed to take to
the streets for a party! It was crazy!
