Having arrived in Bangkok just a few hours prevoiusly we were quite tired. But it was New Years Eve so we had to make an effort!
Happy New Year to you all to everyone!!!

Yep, we're in Bangkok safe and sound! Been here for 24hours and already we're on the move to meet up with Stu's mates on a little island in the south called Koh Lanta.

New Years Eve was pretty tame as we we're sooooo tired after our flight. Stu didn't sleep at all, which I blame for his unusual choice of NYE grub. Yes, with out losing a bet, being on fear factor or even just a drunken error, he chose to eat a nice selection of fried insects from one of the stalls on the Khoa San Road in Bangkok (Ever since I saw Ray Mears do it I've fancied them and they're not actually that bad - stu). For fifty pence he got a little bag full of the crispy critters (incl. Grasshoppers, Catapillars etc) which he washed down with a cool bottle of Thai Singha beer. He tried to pressure me into having one too, but I declined the offer. But he does assure me they were quite palatable and the grasshoppers especially were quite sweet flavoured, with a woody after-taste. We spent the evening supping cheap cocktails (about

60p for a glass of beer - great! - stu) at a bar on Khao San road (Traveller-ville in Banglampu, Bangkok). The bar was playing cool house music and if you blocked out all the Thais, you really would have thought you we're at Mambos in Ibiza!!

We got up late today (Jan 1) and managed to go for a short and sweaty walk to one of the palaces and also eat lots more delicious Thai food. I persuaded Stu to come for a Thai massage and a pedicure (I can't lie, I did actually feel a bit gay, no disrespect to my gay friends - Stu). His feet were just not in beach shape... So we were pummelled half to death by two tiny Thais, followed by a lovely relaxing pedicure, where we had piles of dry skin shaved off our feet by a disgusted women... The shame!!!!!
Stu is loving the food and the prices over here! Think he's gonna like Thailand!!!!
Been killing time since then until our train leaves tonight for the islands. Stu's looking forward to the journey by train, but I didn't sleep a wink on the train last time I went, eek!

Think we might go a bit bonkers if we don't get some proper sleep soon!

Anyways, wish us luck on the train journey... We'll be back in touch when we have more news to tell you!
