It is now our third day in Thailand, we arrived on Thursday at around 4ish thai time and were met at the airport by my Auntie Julie and partner Jeff. It was a bit cloudy but very very humid, the heat hit us instantly as we left the airport. We are staying at Julie's house which is in an area called Bang Na which is outside the centre, it's a lovely house in a very posh compound of houses which share a pool. There is a maid who tidys all our clothes and does our washing etc and also a guard at the gates who salutes us every time we leave. Feel like royalty and very spoilt compared to travellers experience we are expecting once we move on from here.
On the 1st day we visited Julies school, which is a primary school just down the road where we met the children and had a tour round grounds. Then after a look round the local stalls we got motorbike taxis back to house, which are 20 bart each (about 30p) and go extremely fast (i over-took rith on mine, he he he) The cars here can over take on both sides
so the traffic is a bit crazy and noone seems to mind.
That night we went to the local night market which is called Suan Lum, where we had some traditional thai food and lots of sinagpore sling cocktails, yum! We shopped for a while and then took a tuk tuk ride where our lives rested in the hands of a very confident and enthusiastic driver who simply went round roundabouts and dipped in and around traffic at full speed to get us to our destination (all part of the fun). We then went to the Banyan Tree Hotel which is very posh v ery tall building which has a bar/restaurant on the roof 61 floors up! So we had another cocktail up there and watched the lighting storm in the distance.
On day 2 we had a lazy day and slobbed by the pool, having naps in several differenr places around the house (jetlagged not just lazy!) and then in the evening we went to the local shopping mall to have japanese food and a mosy around the shops. We discovered you can get botox for 150 bart which is about 1 pound! Then had an early
night because the next day we got up at 8am to go to the big market in main Bangkok, Chatukhak which is absoloutely massive!! And soooooo cheap! So been buying things today and trying our best to barter but not doing so well (hmmmm... we are too british) But then we did get the Sky TRain on our own!!! And travelled all the way to Siam all by ourselves which we felt very proud of. We bought tickets and everythin!
Tonight we are going to a park not far from here to see the locals do their thai chi and also see them do their national anthem.
Our group tour starts on Tursday so next blog will prob be shortly after that.
Big love

Hey ladies, what a crazy manic place it seems. I love the fact that you got straight on the cocktails, maybe it helped u sleep, get over the jet lag! Possibly a bit of Thai Chi is good for hang overs? I will give it a try. Have a fun expedition these next couple of weeks, Wish I was with you, lots of love!! xxx
