Scary!
2 giant statues protecting a temple Hi everyone,
We flew up to Bangkok from Phuket and made our way straight to its backpacking center, Khao San Road. Khao San is crowded with backpackers from all over the world, a string of pubs and cheap guesthouses and stalls that sell pretty much everything! On our first day we took a boat trip along the river to get to the Vietnamese Embassy to to sort out our visas, then we took a trip to the huge MBK shopping center and strolled around the maze of shops. The next day we dedicated to sightseeing, we saw the Grand Palace, the standing Buddah and the Vimanmek Teak Mansion, lots of walking but well worth it, some of the temples were amazing. From there we went to a nearby stadium for the night to watch some Muay Thai boxing. It wasn't as brutal as I thought it would be (thank God, because we were in ringside seats!) but it was still very interesting to watch. Of course we sampled some of the late night bars in Khao San, great laugh, bumped into a lot of Irish people. We've booked a 3 day tour to Kanchanaburi so we're off to there next,
The Grand Palace
View from outside the Grand Palace getting an early night tonight because we leave for Kanchanaburi at 7 tomorrow morning and that's very early for us these days!
Take care,
Talk soon,
Lots of love,
Laura and Liam
