Arriving on a jet plane..
..getting off our little laos airlines jet. Sa wat dee,
We flew into Bangkok after just 1hour 45 mins and got on the transfer bus to the centre of Bangkok. On the bus we met a German girl called Anka who was going to the same place we were. We had been told that Bangkok was crazy but when we got off, it was far from the madness of Beijing or Hanoi. Anka and us followed the map to a well known backpacker area, where we found a nice guesthouse. We went straight back out into the humid heat of Bangkok to the Grand palace and the emerald buddha. We almost got caught out twice along the way. We had read that people often dressed like officials, will tell you that the palace is closed and direct you elsewherelike a shopping place, were they will get commision. The first guy told us where the palce was then but told us it was closed for a festival. Rubbish! Almost sucked in by the next guy as he was stood outside one of the entrances, dressed in a suit and said it was closed. Behind him thou was an official guard and he was pointing right to the main

not that pretty but so much fun, a travellers playground! entrance, so we carried on and found the entrance. Inside there was posters saying do not trust strangers but what good are they outside?! When we finally got inside the palace was very beautiful and very bling. The thai's seem to be alot more imaginative with the decor with mythical creatures as there statues instead of buddha's.
Before we go any further, Rob recieved a text from his mum saying something of along the lines of 'Missing you and hope your OK' and 'Hope you got to 'Tieland' Ok'. Naturally when he recieved it we both had a chuckle about what was said. When he rung home on x-mas day he said about it and she went onto to say that she knew she spelt it wrong but he thinks shes lying haha.
We had a stroll back and met Anka for some tea, went for a drink and then went and got an early night after another long day. The next morning we found a british place, so went for some food there and had the best fry up since we had been away. Proper ketchup with english sausage and bacon. Lush! Its amazing how the smallest
bangkok streets.
..khaosan road, where its all at! home pleasures can make you happy!
As we were in the heart of the main backpacker area, everything you could possibly want was all around us, so really accessible. From fresh fruit shakes, to shopping, to films, it had everything. We spent the whole day shopping, without realising where the day had gone. And amazingly most of it was for Rob! He got lots of different things at a really good price, which made it even more fun!
Next day we got up early in search for the giant buddha and then Chinatown, which is meant to have some of the best shopping around, which also included the odd ladyboy! However, when we finally reached the giant buddha it was far from impressive. After we went to Chinatown, which was really hard work, with the narrow alleys crammed with people, you could only shuffle, not walk and the things there were not how we imagined it. It was worth going just for the experience. After a while of shuffled round we got a tuk-tuk back to our area. We seem to be doing almost half of what we have been doing as the humidity and heat makes you
check out the trousers!
Had to wear them to go in temple and palace because he had shorts on, so rented these beauties! feel like your doing 5 times more!
We had dinner at the British place for a classic staek and kidney pie, with mash and gravy. It was Lush! Almost as good as home. Another reason we went there was cause Man utd were playing... so naturally we had to go! Next day we where up and ready to go on our 7-hour bus journey to Koh Chang, which is where we would be spending christmas!
So until next time, party on dudes
