My first pruchase
I went to the supermarket for gum and came out with all of this for $1 Hello everyone!
Well I have reached the islands after a few days in the rain forest so I can finally update you all. I was very pleased to have the greatest emails to read, and I have already been here for half an hour reading them all... The internet here is double the price in Bankok ($2 instead of $1 per hour) but you get a bit stingy when it costs twice the price of dinner for an hour on the internet!
So my adventures began when I arrived in Bangkok LATE on Saturday night... The next day I went with Constanza (also on the tour) to Ko Stan Road which is a big shopping area. I looked at HEAPS of stuff that I wanted! There was heaps of Catseye jewellery like what I have, but none of it was silver. There were bellybutton rings that I want though so I might get one of those when I go back. I also looked at OE pants (Catherine😊) but I decided to give everything a miss seeing as I had only been there for one day and had NO idea and just get me some sunnies. Which was probably a

At the train station, but they put sugar in it, so might remember to ask for none next time. good idea... but not sure what the shopping will be like on the islands. On the basis that I was not there to shop I did treat myself to a foot massage though. It was great, they take you into this spa room and you get to lie on a bed and they are not allowed to talk... all for about $4 for half an hour, which was great after my rather sad goodbyes the day before.
The tour guide was being a little slack but I finally met him in the afternoon when we went to the train station. His name is Tommy and he is quite cool, he is Thai. He then took us to the train station where we had dinner. There are 6 of us a couple from Finland, Contanza from Germany, a Pom called Nathan (from Bristol) and Keryn... FROM HAMILTON.... but not anymore, she lives in Sydney, it is still cool though.
I used the toilets there, and it cost 10 bart (30 cents) and it was GROSS and there wasn't even any toilet paper. I am quite used to squats now... and they are fine because lets face it you don't
sit down anyway, but EWWWWWWW.... they were just bad. But not as bad as the ones on the train (I'll get to that little ripper soon).
We had dinner at a restaurant and then got on the train. I was bemused to see that we were in seats on this overnight train, and I was sharing with a random, but low and behold the top one folded down like a little bunk. So I got chatting to this English man who was on his way to Koh Samui (the island that I am on now, but I was then on my way to Khao Sok). He was raving on about travelling and how he wished he had done it when he was younger, and we had a chat about his kids and then we got a good deal on some Singha Beer so a few of those. He offered me the top bunk which some DUMBA$%# had told me was better, which it wasn't, and I stupidly swapped.
Anyway, so these little beer guys kept jumping on the train at each stop, so we had a few (and Keryn the other Hamilton person was like "what the hell!
Me
In my claustrophobic rail way sleeper Where are you getting these from" because she kept missing out). And then there was this big electrical storm so we saw all this fork lightning... so I was having a great time. But then it came to going to sleep and holy... it was bad. I might leave it at that. The beers were a bad idea because of the frequent toilet stops (even though I honestly only had about 3-4) and the top bunk was HOT. I am very pleased that I took a sleeping sheet because they give you BLANKETS! and it is so so hot. Earplugs were great, but I had nothing to put over my eyes because I was banking on getting something on the flight over. Oh well though... I survived!
Then we went on to Khao Sok national park in our little open air car that there is a photo of. It was not all that safe and I was on the edge... So I suggested that if I fall off they call Tommy because he was in the front and we couldn't talk to him. Keryn being a smarty pants brought her Aussie GSM phone and bought a sim card (that

Poor bugger... prob even more claustrophobic! comes with credit) for $10NZ... so we just had to text Tommy when we wanted to stop at the 7/11, very amusing... prob a 'you had to be there' thing though😊
I am going to continue this in another entry because I am not sure if this is too much or not.
