Grand Palace
this is the view of the Palace from the road outside, honest it is breath taking as it is so glittery and gold. Hello all,
we are here at last and loving it. We arrived in Bangkok after a very good flight. It was a night flight so were able to sleep most of the way. We also had Exit seats and so Mart was more than comfortable with all the leg room.
We stayed in a good hotel right in the centre of bangkok so that was good. And it was clean which was also good!!! We soon moved on from Bangkok after seeing the grand palace (picture attached) and also the (Wat Po, the home of the reclining Budda, also attached photo) We also went to Patpong and Ko Saun Roa where all the night life and markets are. Pat pong was interesting as that is where all the ping Pong shows are etc. we gave it a miss this time but will see a show in Pucket later on our trip. bangkok was great but a bit overwhelming. just like London but crazier
We are now further north west of Bangkok in Kahchinaburi. It is lovely with also lots to see and do. We have been to where the remains of the Death Railway are and also the
Reclyning Budda
This is massive and spectacular!!! to the cemetry were hundreds of English and Australian prisioners of are War are burried. These men died building the railway in the second world war.(see pictures) due to the savage working conditions and misstreatment from the Japaniese.
we have also been sitting next to tigers!!!!! it was fab we were able to go see them at a monks temple were they look after orfan tigers. We were able to get up close and lay next to them and smooth them. They are like pet cats at home but far scarier as they could eat you at any point.ha. It was a nice place to go as there were all other kinds of animals there just roaming in amongst you.
we are going on a day tip tomorrow to ride on elephants and go and bath in the water with them, also a bit of rafting down a river, then onto see some waterfalls, ending with a train trip over the famous "Bridge over the river Kwai" which all looks very nice. we go at 8.00 in the morning and do not come home till 18.00, so a full packed day ahead.
We are staying in a raft bungalow
in a guest house called "Blue Star". Once agian very clean and its only 3.50 a night each. The locals are great most speak good english so its easy to get around. We eat at the Jolly Frog wich was only 2.00 pound and that was with two beers!! so good!!!
We are both having a fab time and will keep you updated on where we decide to venture off next.
Lots of love from Martin & Sophie
