Khao San Road and Steve

Arrived in Bangkok - so freakin hot!!! We met 2 random (drunk) blokes from Aus - decided to split a cab from Bangkok airport to Khao San Road which ended up costing 400 baht (100 each = $3.50 Aussie) for about a 35 minute ride into town - Wazza and Nick had been to Bangkok before so we followed their lead chatting with the cabby about what to do while in Bangkok - go to Patpong (thumbs up) and see ladyboy (very niiice). We headed into Th Khao San and booked into a 'hotel' for 600 baht per night...total ripoff, but the helpful Thai's behind the desk saw the pasty white a mile off...didn't care!

Went for a look around Khao San and first thing we saw was a few other pasty feral Aussies, some chilled out bars and a 7-11 (how authentic). Grabbed a bite to eat with Waz and Nick and met this helpful 'American' named Steve, who didn't speak a word of English (that we could understand), but he was talking about heading to the various Buddha's around Bangkok. Steve had all the thai boys delivering him drinks and cigarettes, so maybe he was important in a Tony Soprano way?!?
