Hey guys
So as we left you we were just settling in Koh Lanta where it was supposedly their "rainy season" but in fact we saw little rain but I guess when we did see it, it was pretty heavy. Considering it's the season when like clockwork it's supposed to rain every afternoon it was very dry though.
So the first day on the island we just chilled, as you have to when you're on a beautiful island like Koh Lanta. But not for long as when our friends Dave and Paul turned up on hired scooters which only cost around £4 to hire per day we were straight off to the hiring office to get our hands on one. It felt just like we were back in the Cook Islands, well almost as there was far more traffic on Koh Lanta and the drivers were absolutly nuts. Saying that I did try my hand at riding our scooter but it ended up not being such a good idea and I have the scars to prove it (only a scratch really mum so don't worry). So once we had decided Gary would be the driver for the next few
days we all headed off around the Island to find some good photo spots as I am now travelling with three camera fanatics instead of just one! It's alright though cos I get chance to perfect my posing so we may get at least one good shot of me. So that's pretty much what we did on that Island and not much else but it was a nice place to relax as it is low season and so not too many other tourists are about.
So from Koh Lanta we made our way by mini bus (which couldn't have been more cramped if it tried) to Krabi where we then got a boat out to the Island Pi Pi Don where we were going to take a long tail boat trip over to Pi Pi Le which is where the film the Beach was shot, any of you who have seen it will be cursing us right now just as I would be if someone I knew was there and I wasn't. I'll say it now though, the beach itself does kind of lose its WOW factor when you turn up and there's plenty of other tourists sharing it
with you. The island itself is beautiful though and we got to do some more snorkelling and also anchor up by Monkey Beach which, as its name suggests is the home to some of the little furry fellas. However they are not as good natured as one would hope and this is all down to tourists bringing food for the monkeys which they have come to expect so when a visitor comes along without food they seem to disapprove. We saw this in person as a tourist without food came flying back into the water being followed by a not so happy monkey. It was quite funny really and to be honest the monkey had a point.
So apart from our day trip over to Pi Pi Le we spent our time on Pi Pi Don relaxing (life seems so hard at the moment I know), sunbathing, shopping, having the occasional Thai massage and even getting a pedicure, me that is Gary isn't quite that feminine.
So we were meant to leave the Island on the Saturday afternoon to make our way to Bangkok. However for reasons out of our control we ended up staying another day which
we were really gutted about, NOT!. This had its upside as we got to stay in a little bamboo hut for the night which we had previously kept walking past on the way to the beach but never got round to actually checking availability of. It was a lovely little hut with it's own hammock on the porch and right on the beach so good views too.
So when we were actually able to leave the following day we were a little sad to leave but knew that we had to get going sooner or later or else we would start sacrificing even more of the precious time we have left in S.E. Asia and we really don''t want to do that, even though we have already started making plans for a trip next year to the places we are unable to fit into our travels this time around.
So next to Bangkok which is an absolute shopping Mecca, especially on the Kho san road where myself and Gary may have picked up some essential items and maybe some non essential ones too. We planned to be in Bangkok for as long as it took to arrange our
Sunset on Pi Pi Don
That is so not a flattering outfit i'm wearing (Verity) ongoing flight to India, which is now all sorted thank goodness. However we bumped into our travelling companions Dave and Paul whilst on Kho san road whom we had split with in Pi Pi as they were heading to Burma in between. This meant that we were all able to start travelling together again which we have found to be a good thing in S.E Asia. So we waited another day or so in order for the guys to do all they needed to do and then we would set off to our next destination which we were still undecided about. During the few days we were in Bangkok I was informed of the most tragic and devastating news, that I would have to go to a football match! Gary's face lit up when he heard that Thailand were playing Holland that evening and that the tickets were the equivalent of about 3 pounds, my face on the other hand dropped and I could instantly feel a headache coming on. In all fairness it was a good game but that doesn't mean that I'll be attending any when we get home.
Well that's what we did in Thailand and
now we are in Cambodia but you'll have to wait for the next blog to hear about our adventures here. All I will say is oh my goodness it's the hottest i've ever been in my life and that's where i'll leave you all.
Until next time.......

We are amazed
We are enjoying the blog but were amazed that a woman can admit that a man can drive better, all be it on a scooter. Still Verity is better at catching spiders. Keep cool and don't over heat.
