tree in khao san
monday 7th may
i arrived in bangkok a delayed flight and after being up at 5am that morning cleaning the flat for the final inspection by the landlord adding to the confusion.wandered around through the airport thru the customs and arrival gates hoping barry was there to meet me. 2 days previous tried to call him only to find he had all ready gone and left his mobile behind.with only his email and no clue where he was i nerviously walked tru the gates
he was there god bless i'm.after a quick whats the story bud.we stepped out side to be blasted on all sides dodging the continous cackle of shifty taxi drivers looking for a easy mark, and hit head on by the bangkok climate.bangkok heat makes you realise how many pores the human body actualy has
got the bus which like everything is on "thai time" after sitting on the bus for the same amount it actuly took to to get us to get to are stop we steped out onto ratchini rd a five minute walk to khoa san road
what a circus it really was lights camera action,a lot of hard partying, hard
old colonial houseold colonial houseold colonial house

thai pub off khao san
selling, bizzare smells that you passed through like minature suburbs, everybody trying to sell you something you dont want at a price you dont want to pay
arrived at the hotel like a hyperactive child after eating to many sweets, numb and wired to the moon all a the same time
a quick shower then back into the fray for a cold one, listening to the constant calls of demented songbirds"wanna buy" "very cheap" "come into my shop".i apparently never knew how much i need a suit? and smells ranging from scented flowers, perfumeand incence to "oh my god what died"
we bar hopped for a while eventualy leaving khao san road in search of a bar barry was recomended, but as usual in the is city you can't always get what you want but might just get what you need
ended up in a bar down a back alley it was a 2 story building that looked like it might have been owned by a rich general years ago .it was an colonial building in slight disrepair
that looked like it shoud have been us in an old war movie
we sat
tukk tukktukk tukktukk tukk

tukk driver waiting for bizness
in the large garden in one of the many mis-matched plastic chairs that dotte the place drank talked shit and watched geckos climb the walls
the bar was only for locals who either stared or total ignored us it was quite refreshing after khao sans hard sell.but the bright lights eventualy pulled us back ending up in a bar called "the shamrock" which only irish connection was that barry and i were sat in it at the time
ran into a thai girl named nana who would switch accents and sayings like a catwalk model switches outfits
when i asked her what her name ment she half pulled down her pants and pulled up her shirt and there in bold black letters was tattooed BANANA
i love this city
