Arriving in Bangkok

The flight from London was a nightmare, i cant belive how they can cramm so many people onto a plane? A few days before travelling i started to come down with a bug and being sat on a plane for god knows how long, all breathing the same air; has made me feel really shit. Upon arriving you are greeted by millions of people, all offering places to stay, taxi's and various foods and drinks. I am currently sat in an internet caffee in the airport, debating if i should go out yet, as it is pouring with rain. My rucsack has a rain cover on it, but my shoulder bag doesn't have any sort of protection and i stupidly packed my waterproof jacket in the bottom of my rucsack. My first impressions of the place are good, looking out the window, i don't feel that far from home, as it always rains in England.
Back to the plane journey: I must admit saying goodbye to my family at the airport, was really hard, i found myself having to bite my lip, to prevent me from crying. I am not the most manly of men, very much a home boy, i like my own bed and to be around my family. So it was a really hard trip, but i think that once i settle into the travelling life style i will be alright. I stupidly brought the book 'The Beach' by Alex Garland, I think it is part of the travelling stereotype, isn't it? You must have a copy of that in your bag, to prove you are a traveller and not just a Tourist! The rain doesn't seem to be easing so i think i will brave it and get soaked, i am rather worried about my hostel. I booked to sleep on a roof top somewhere in Bangkok as it was the cheapest form of acomadation around and so i am not sure if i will hust get very wet, or if they will have the roof covered?
