Goodbye Bali
One of my last nights in Bali. Well this will be my 8th and final blog. Yes, my travels in Asia have come to an end. How do I feel? I don't really know how I feel about it. I just know that all things come to an end. So even if I had 80 days of nothing but memories, I think I am ready to go back. It is a weird feeling nonetheless.
I last wrote a blog 1-2 weeks into my stay at Bali. After another 2 weeks there I have decided that it was my number one ranked place, from anywhere I have been. A lot of people would disagree with me because it is so americanized, but I'm not one of those "proud to be hardcore" backpackers. There is still a lot of culture if you get into the right parts in Bali.
For my last days in Bali I wanted to go out and see a little more than just Kuta. I went to a few places with my buddy Iwan from the beach and he showed me around. I wanted to do some more snorkeling, so I took a glass bottom boat and did that again. I wish my camera was

My tour guide gave me a couple pieces of bread. I thought they were for me, but it turns out the fish love it. I didn't know that?? So I hopped in the water and right away the fish were surrounding me. And when I say fish, I don't mean like 3 or 4. I'm guessing there were about 100 or more fish waiting for me to tear of little pieces of bread. I hope the pictures turned out because it was one of the better things I have seen. After the snorkeling, the boat took me out to Turtle Island. It was so hot that day. Our boat could only get so close so we had to walk to rest of the way into the shore. The water was actually hot enough that it hurt my feet. I never thought it could get like that. So anyways, we walked up to see the turtles and lots of other animals. It was a little like a zoo, but more like a hands-on zoo. I held things that I didn't think I ever would. You will see the pictures. MOM, you

I also went to the sacred monkey forest in Ubud. Ubud is a quiet town about 2 hours from where I stayed in Kuta. The monkey forest was also one of my highlights of Bali. I love monkeys. It's just something about how smart they are, and how they act that I find so amusing. I bought some (too many) bananas to feed them too. I walked in there with about 20 bananas in my hand, and that was a big mistake! As soon as I saw them look at me I was like "Oh shit". Before I knew it I was being harrassed and violated by about 10 different monkeys. They were jumping on my back and clinging on to my legs. It was funny at first, but then it got a little annoying. You couldn't bring out a banana without being molested. After the inital experience I threw the bananas in my bag. They still knew they were inside though. They were tugging at my zippers. Man they are cute and all, but just merciless. Iwan had his cigarettes inside his man purse and a monkey snuck up, opened his bag, and stole his

I also spent some time at GWK. I'm not sure of the un-abbreviated name, but it was the home of an ancient civilization in Bali. I was hoping to learn a little more about the place, but my friend was having a little trouble explaining it in english. The place was big though. I was impressed with the stone work, and some of the big statues. Most of Bali is Hindu, so there were these giant statues of Hindu gods. The idea of a giant half bird, half man god is a little far fetched, but I tried to keep an open mind.
I spent most of my time on Kuta Beach, but I wanted to see some more beach where the surf gets a little bigger. I went to Uluwatu to check out the surf. I didn't go in, but now I am regretting it. The waves were pretty big, and I caught them on a bad day. I checked out some

Every time I look at this picture I just remember how gross this was, and how it moved and... ughhh more beach in Dreamland too. I wasn't too impressed, but the beach is really nice. There is a lot beautiful scenery, but it was a little too quiet for me. It was good to get away from Kuta for a bit though. It is so much more fun, to go out and see new things.
Man, I wish I could be in Bali for a little longer. My last surf was so fun and I miss the people that I met, but it is time to move on, and go home. I'm not looking forward to snow and cold. I was starting to get used to sweating every day. I think at some point in my life, I will have to make a journey back. But even if I don't I still have memories that will last a life time. Well everybody, I will be home before you know it.
See you soon, and thanks to everyone that kept in touch.
Peace out
