Geo: 14.344, 100.561Before visiting the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya we stopped at this Temple just to the south. It is from the same period as the rest of the ancient city, but this temple is still in use and has the many layers of previous buildings to prove it. I've added comments with the pictures. Most Buddhist temples have these little statues along a side wall. There is a Buddha for each day of the week. (I'm not sure what the other two are for here, maybe holidays?) They are usually marked with the days Sun - Sat, and you place coins as offerings in the appropriate cup in front of the statue. I know the reclining Buddha is Tuesday, and I count out from there to see which one to use in the temples that don't have labels. =)

In the ruined remains of a small wiharn near the main entrance is a restored whitewashed reclining Buddha. It was also built by King Nareusan for his own personal meditation.
