Short ride to Taitung with some great coastal views along the way but still into a headwind. We met a British cycle tourist who was heading south and the first thing he asked us was why on earth were we riding north against the prevailing wind! We explained that we figured we'd 'warm up' on the western flats and ride the island in a counter-clockwise direction and that we hadn't found much online about prevailing winds etc at certain times of year. For cyclists: ride south on the east coast(at least in October)!! We spent the afternoon and the following day checking out Taitung(which yes Daniel included lots of food-pics to follow!) and chilling out reading and drinking tea and coffee. We particularly enjoyed our boutique-ish hotel(Sinsu Fashion hotel) and can recommend it as exc. value/money(strange how our favorite hotels usually include a buffet breakfast).....
