The Lantern Festival is held about a week or two after Chinese new year (usually mid to late Feb)

but it was pretty cool. This was at the park for the lantern festival. I thought they might be crazy enough to burn it at the end. They were not.

We lived a minutes walk from the lantern festival. They had fireworks twice a night for nine days. This was from our roof.

These kids came in as 3 year olds with no english. Claire has done a great job teaching them. They're kinda cute too.

Taiwan has really good Oolong tea grown in the mountains. This was a beautiful spot that Marvis took us too.

40 minutes and 1000 stairs down from our door is this waterfall. It's a cool spot. The 1000 stairs back up is a bit annoying but it only takes about 20 minutes.

A delicious clay over roll with a fried egg inside. This shop is a one minute walk from the apartment. This was Kristina's last visit there before heading back to Canada

The Taiwanese love baseball. Unfortunately, a gambling scandal in 99' brought down a ton of teams and the popularity of the sport. There are only four pro teams left in the Taiwan league. They play all the time though, and the Taiwanese love MLB.

After the terrible typhoon in August 09', the mountain roads were really trashed. I found this on a scooter drive. This was marked off with a few orange cones. Personal responsibility is relied upon far more in Asia than in the U.S. PAY ATTENTION!! You never know when there going to be a giant hole in the road!!

This was awesome. There was a huge section of mountain road that was re-routed. This part has been left to crumble. It was like being in a movie
