As I now enter into my first offical month in Taiwan I am pretty proud of myself for slowly evolving into a Local. I sometimes burp in public and don't say excuse me, I find myself wanting to pick my nose in public, but I have yet not evolved with that custom, I look forward to nap time in the middle of the day, and I have officially purchased a mask, helmet, and rain coat, to accompany me in my scooter adventures and I will admit I look pretty cute---ha I drink about three green tea's a day and a coffee-just like the locals!!! I am proud to also say that I have memorized my favorite food and drinks in the Mandarin language.....for example...beef noodles (mein neu rou) and vegetable dumplings (sway gouw) and green tea-half sugar (lu cha ban ta). I have become obsessed with Man guo Bin Sha's and Lemon Duo Duo (mango slush) and (lemonaid with half yogurt)--SO
DELICIOUS I have taken over the Taiwan roadway and drive like the wind---pretty sweet when you can drive and not obey rules. Ok well I do follow the rules, the ones that the Locals follow as
they drive in front of me-haha...i haven't noticed any speed limit signs either-guess we just go at our own pace. It is strang though as you drive, when you make eye contact with an oncomming driver there is this understanding that you both have about the road-never too many acccidents-kinda nice! My Green Goblin is pretty amazing-he gets me every place I need to go---bump bump bump--sometimes I have to hold onto my helmet-those bumps knock it sideways off my head! Speaking of holding on to things...the other day after I hauled butt home trying to escape the typhoon my mask got soaked. I had a brilliant idea to air dry it off my scooter as I drove to school the next morning--ha bad idea. I said "bye bye" to it as it flew off my handle into the street--it's ok though cuz i found the same one this weekend-nice and new! I find it fun when I can drive up to the tea stand and order and then just zip right back onto the road--love being lazy!!!!!!!!
Doraemon has become an addiction, way passed obsession! He is this really popular cartoon character here in Taiwan and
he's so cute---anways, 7 Eleven has a promo right now where if you spend $77 NT you get a free Doraemon magnet-I CAN'T STOP!!! It is the World Rainbow Tour-aka-Doraemon magnets are from all over the wrold and he is dressed in an outfit from that country-there are also some odd and end ones as well----I had to put an end to this addiction-I stopped goin to 7 Eleven- i even had to take different routes to school so I wouldnt be tempted. though that failed because there is a 7 Eleven on every street corner. But just as I was hitting my depression stage from the lack of Doraemon magnets.....Rachel and I found a street vendor in Taichung that had a briefcase full of them--soo yes I cheated--i couldnt help it..3 for $50 NT how do you resist. WE SURE DIDN'T! So now my collection is almost complete and I my stops at 7 Eleven for random crap just to get a Doraemon is at a brief hult!!!
SEXY BACK is probably one of my favorite quotes right now---I pretty much bust out the verse in every conversation. hey even when my kids are familiar with
the song--yes JT is aired on MTV here in Taiwan, how can I resist singing! Some may get a little annoyed-but you gotta keep up the JAMS being thousands of miles away---I have tried to get others to join in on the fan club-some do-some laugh in my face-BUT AS I DO "BRING SEXY BACK" when I hit the streets of Kahosiung and towns in Taiwan, I never do it alone-my good friends are always there!!! I have often questioned that possibly I am not meeting many foreigners because of this rediculous obsession or dance move or obnoxiousness or because of the Long Islands kicking me on my butt!!!
O yes...if you are ever in the mood for Mexican food while in Taichung-stay clear of Frog's Mexican Resturant. Their idea of cheese nachos is Nacho Cheese Doritos with melted "welfare" cheese so michelle likes to call it. And their margharita's yeah--try not even filled to the half a glass mark--REDICULOUS!!! But do see the amazing goat in the middle of the park--he's pretty cute!!!

The difference between you and me
You wear a mask to protect yourself from the legendary Kaohsiung air pollution. I wear a mask to make myself more handsome. Sorry I lost you on MSN--my piggyback wireless Internet is sporadic. I love my new home and my new town and my new county and my new motorbike. Life is good--and about to get even better. lao-puo will be here Novmember 5th. Got my ARC. I have arrived.
