Victim of Mud slides
August 2009 mud slides in Taiwan has severe damage to the mountain villages, roads and briges Arrived in Taipei on January 21st, 2010.
It was hot and humid in the morning but became cold and damp in the afternoon when a cold front came in.
Visited the TaiPei University which covers several city block in Taipei City.
Motorcycles or Mopeds are every where. Halmet not always worn by motorcyclist. I have seen baby being carried by his/her mother in the front or the back seat of the moped. It was a hairy moment for me when I
Got to ride in the back seat of a motorbike, and I almost fell off the seat. Not much room for my big bottom!!!
I was driven to the south of Taiwan, Kaohsiung to meet my sister and her daughter.
It was a long ride because my brother- in- law took a scenic route via the western ocean road. It is winter in Taiwan so there were strong waves . I noticed also lots of Wind power Generator dotted along the coast.
On day 2, I went to visit the mountain villages around southern Taiwan which suffered severe damage from major mudslides after heavy rain storms last August. Bridges and houses were blown away. 500 villagers perished in the process.
Fishing by the Pagoda
KaoShiung Lotus pond with load of local enjoy a day of fishing I took some pictures of the remnant of the damages.
On day 3, we visited the Lotus Pond and Supreme emperor of dark heaven (Emperor Yuan) around Kaohsiung. Also visited the Goddness of the Sea, MaZu in Tainan.
