Credit card information for anyone staying at the Cinnamon Grand. When you arrive they block funds from your card to cover the entire room stay and incidentals. I’m here for 17 nights (find me and say hello, anyone in the area) so the amount could have bought a small, family-sized car. Let’s hope I don’t actually need to buy one of those. I had reports of propel having trouble with cards in the past so maybe this is what they mean. They will be released when I pay up but you need to make sure you have double the amount available on your card, and some! I’m going to try to pay upfront in the hope that the blocked amount comes back to me.
After lying by the pool all day reading an actual book and eating my purloined breakfast, 4pm was get ready and go out time. No hassle walking to Galle Face Green, not one offer of a tuktuk until I got there. I walked along the promenade at the top. People lying down sleeping on the walls, ice cream for sale ans couples sitting on deckchairs and snogging under the cover of umbrelllas. Inadequate umbrellas. Nobody paid
me any attention at all or sad hello. Sadness! It’s all just a five minute walk along new pavements to the start of it. You can see two tower blocks being built by Chinese money and a whole tsunami struck are being reclaimed too. It was very windy and there were loads of fathers with their kids flying kites, which you can buy at the many stalls. Along the walkway there are so many snack places. None looked like a good idea and some had the filthiest tablespoon and chairs to sit on.i thought fleetingly of h@ving an unopened bottle of coke for an unopened bottle of coke but by then I had the smell of a cocktail in my nose. The edge of the rocky, slimy, rough sea was very popular for women who stood in it and their offspring who laid about it in. The area had a relaxed. Family feel to the whole thing.
The Galle Face Hotel was right there, shame not to try out a cocktail or 2 (Happy hour) had started? Very, very cool,as
you step in, no dress code at this time so I was served 2 very fine cocktails at 970rp for both with a pound or so of tax on top.OffI go back tomorrow., maybe some food as well. Calm and cool and lovely and instant but not too much service attention. Mostly people on their own like me or couples. After working abroad nd on my own such a lot
I just got backed and the Guest Service I met phoned to check everything was ok and did I have enough time for a chat. Took one for the team and went down. She offered me a lot, declined all except the tea. And we will,all have dinner together in th buffet one night. OK, that’s an nice and probably free idea. I assured her we are used to fending for our selves and not needing any special treatment. A bit of PR and a marvellous dinner, OK then! I aske questions about using the buses. Not ok for work but definitely at the weekend.
The walk back to the hotel is as safe as houses
