The Heritance tea factory hotel and the TCK 6685 restaurant, a third class carriage of the Udapussellawa narrow-gauge railway line that used to transport tea but closed down in 1950.

They switch on the old machinery of the factory each evening for half an hour, it's really rather impressive.

The amazingly picturesque journey through the tea country, stunning views and lots of fun. The only train ride I've been on where I think it was actually better to sit in second class rather than first class.

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy, contains Buddha's left canine tooth no less.

The vertical bands of the flag represent the colours of the aura which Buddhists believe emanated from the body of the Buddha when he attained Enlightenment

The Patthirippua (Octagon) and main gate was bombed in 1998 but has been restored to it's former glory.

That dang work stuff again
Great to see you blogging again. I could hear those islands calling you. Being a nurse I loved hearing local cures. We love train travel. Sounds like a great trip. We need to add Sri Lanka to our list.
